Hi I’m hoping someone can give me some advice regarding a family booking we made to with Jet2 to cyprus next Wednesday. To give some context it was a flight only booking made by multiple families as we were attending a wedding in Paphos, the wedding was later cancelled because of the  covid outbreak and rebooked for May next year. We had a separate villa booked for a large group of us and that was cancelled and a full refund was issued. None of us cancelled our flight bookings as we were expecting them to be cancelled by Jet2. Because of the huge increase in prices for next years flights(they’re currently twice the price)my sister in law contacted Jet2 via Facebook messenger in June to see if it would be possible to change the holiday to a package holiday AND to a different location. She was advised that we could and that this could be done upto 48hrs before departure.

My partner sent Jet2 a message through our booking on their website and also asked if we could change our flight only booking to a package holiday and if so what would be the deadline. They replied to her advising of the admin fees involved, and contrary to the message my sister in law had received , said we wouldn’t be able to change the departure or destination airports and that the booking could be changed upto 5hrs before departure but that they could also change  it to a package holiday.

All of the above we have emails/screenshots proving the correspondence.

As we are meant to be flying next Wednesday my partner called Jet2 today to confirm whether it was 5hrs or 48hrs so that we could give ourselves the longest time to hope the carrier would cancel the flights themselves if there was a change to cyprus being on the travel exclusion list. At that point she was told that actually for it to be changed to a package holiday would have to be done 14 days prior to departure!!!! As this is now impossible given our departure date I am furious with Jet2 and was hoping for some advice on here. Our current position is to either completely write off the £1300 already spent on these flights ,as we definitely will not be travelling in the current climate,  or spend another £1300 to rebook for the wedding next May as the flights would now be closer to £2700 with the admin fees involved. Please can someone off me some positive advice

thanks

Mark
