Travelling to Italy & Switzerland

Due to fly to Milan next week, drive to the Swiss Alps (Zermatt) for a few days and back to Lake Como for a few days before coming home.
I’m now reading that Switzerland could be added to the quarantine list. And maybe Italy.
I’m not bothered about quarantining when we get back, but would the travel insurance be invalid, and do you know if there are any restrictions on entering Switzerland from Italy or vice versa?

One has to weigh up the risks and make a personal decision. As there's nothing predictable about the spread of Covid.0

Have a read of your insurance policy and see what it says. Nobody knows what policy you have taken out. Have a great time if you go.0

No problem with Italy, its rate of infection is half the UK's, Switzerland is 50% above the UK's level. Check the FCO advice page for Italy under the section headed 'entry' which leads to the Italian government page on entry, from some destinations quarantine is required but as of this moment it simply says ' this page is being updated' so it may be good, or bad news0

You should be fine. I came back from road trip to Italy and Switzerland. I crossed the border multiple times. In most cases it was unmanned, but twice there was some kind of control and once I was stopped, when they saw my UK reg plate. I was asked what countries I visited and I said I was in Italy for last two weeks and that was it.
If you rent a car in Italy, there's very small chance of being stopped at swiss border. If you cross it in the mountains, there's no control at all.
Italians don't care who's entering the country from Switzerland. And again, Italian plate will make you look like a local.
Regarding insurance, it should still work after FCO advice change, if you are already on your trip.0
