Hi all,

Paid via PayPal for 2 return flights to New York this December. Flights are still running as far as I know but we want a refund. Have tired to speak to Virgin but no luck. The Whattsapp service just keeps asking for the booking details then resets back to the 'do you still need help page'. I paid with PayPal from my Natwest bank, what chance do I have?

What are the Terms and Conditions of your ticket?  Was it a flexible and refundable ticket? (About £2000+  pp for economy to New York)

No entitlement to a refund from the airline unless the airline cancel the flight (or make a significant change to the times) or you purchased a refundable ticket

If you're prevented from entry into the USA by local immigration policies, or advised not to travel there by the FCO, your travel insurance may reimburse your costs....

But only if you took out insurance at the time.
  • Did you book a non-refundable ticket, or something flexible?
Unless Virgin cancel the flight, you're not entitled to a refund if it's non-refundable - and PayPal won't be able to help as it's not something you're entitled to.
A lot of VA flights are being cancelled, though - ours for September was last week, so you might have a while to wait yet.

This will be a job for travel insurance - if Virgin are still operating the flight it's not their fault you can't travel (some of their customers will be Americans, people with spouses in the USA and other groups still allowed to travel into the USA) so you won't receive a refund if you choose to cancel.
