Cancelled Outbound flight

Hi,  can anyone share anything on something similar to my situation? 

I was due to fly to Benidorm on August 27th for 5 nights and return 1st Sept.  The airline Vueling has just emailed me cancelling the In bound flight on 1st Sept  They’ve said I can reschedule the inbound flight but under the current COVID situation we have decided to reschedule to May2021, our issue is the Outbound flight on 27th August hasn’t been cancelled yet. The website or App is not giving me the option to reschedule the whole flights to May, I cannot get through to Vueling, has anyone had a similar situation?

If you booked both ways at the same time under the same booking ref, then Vueling cancelling one way entitles you to a full refund, both ways. Request a full refund and then rebook as required. Unlikely that you can do this online.

Does this also apply to Easyjet flights? We have a similar problem, outbound cancelled, return not!

yes. It seemed to be the case that you needed to phone to request refund for both at the same time as people were saying that requesting refund online only refunded the cancelled flight.
I notice that the online refund now states "Once the online refund request is processed, it will be applied to all flights on the booking, excluding any flights that have already been flown."

The outbound flight is most likely not going to be cancelled. Flight schedules are extremely complex not just return trips.
