There was a share restructure and consolidation in 2010 (http://www.millwallholdingsplc.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/c103417CCL.pdf) whereby every 100,000 old shares of 0.01p each got converted into one new ordinary share with a nominal value of £10. If you held less than 100,000 shares (which equated to a value of about £30 at the time) you would be left with nothing because they can't issue fractional shares. However, they allowed you to nominate for your fractional entitlement to be given to the supporters' trust or a charity, and get a certificate of 'appreciation' from the club.
If you had 50,000 shares in 2010 and they were deferred shares at that time, you would get nothing; if you had 50,000 normal ordinary shares they would give you an entitlement to less than one new ordinary share so you would also get nothing.
So, your 50,000 shares from the late '90s won't be worth anything, (and even if you did have one new share, the company has been lossmaking for years) but if you are in any doubt you could always contact the registrar (details on http://www.millwallholdingsplc.co.uk/share-information) to confirm that your shares are no longer valid and what (if any) entitlement you now have.3
