Moving to North Wales

I would like to relocate to North Wales and was wondering if anyone had any advise as to how they went about it etc.

Rent first before deciding whether or not to buy.

Near Caernarfon. We have been told Trefriw is a good place if looking to live in a village?

I second the above poster, definitely considering renting up here first!

Lots of villages, depends if you want coastal, rural, near a town etc.

  • Depending where you currently live the reality of living there could be very different to holidays. Parts of Wales struggle with hospital access and are sent to England for operations. I agree with the idea of renting first.

Doesn't look all that near to me, closer to Conwy. How well do you know the area?

I would definitely rent first. North Wales has areas within it that deem if you are not a Welsh speaker you are unwelcome.

Well, they sat down, made sure their reasons for moving to North Wales were valid and all the family agreed, then they toured the area regularly or rented ( to enable the scouting trips to be easier) and then they found the house they were looking for and then they bought it and lived happily ever after.
    The very best of luck.

Or they didn't bother with the above, bought a 'bargain' in a rural village, made no effort to integrate, found the renovation was too much, complained the locals were unfriendly then left.

My parents moved to a Welsh speaking village as non-Welsh speaking English people, they never felt unwelcome, moved after 20 years for work and still have friends from the village. They did however try to learn Welsh (with mixed results) and integrate into village life.
