My late husband's share of Mum's rental property

My husband died 8 years ago. His will left everything to me, but as we had plenty of time to plan after his terminal diagnosis, we were able to ensure that all our savings etc was in joint names anyway, so there was (I thought) nothing to do. 
However, my elderly mother has a rental property, that she put in all three of our names when she bought it. The rent helps pay her care home fees. So it's not something I ever think about. And I thought her financial advisor had done something about it after my husband died (his name was also on the mortgage but that has been paid off now) But the deeds have now come into my possession and I realise that his name is still there as an equal owner. Is the fact that I didn't apply for probate going to be a problem? What will happen when my mum dies?
