Flight refund because not allowed into Georgia.

We are due to fly to Georgia (the country) later this month with Air France. French nationals are allowed to enter Georgia but British nationals are not. Air France are not cancelling the flight and haven't offered a refund, they have offered a voucher. Our travel insurance have said we're not covered, any suggestions on how to get a refund considering we're not allowed into the country so can not travel?

If your insurance doesn't cover you, then there's no other options.0

Won't your travel insurance cover you because current FCO advice is against all but essential travel to the country, irrespective of Georgia's own restrictions on entry? Assuming of course that wasn't the FCO advice when you made the booking.

A voucher is more than they need to offer - bite their hand off. You're not entitled to anything, as the flight isn't cancelled.1

When did you purchase the insurance?

Why do you think that Air France would cancel a flight just because residents of a 3rd party country are not currently allowed to enter the destination country? No free lunch, and no free laptop

AIrFrance were generous to offer a voucher in these circumstances, as they aren't obliged to offer anything if the flight is still going.
Most insurers will pay out if there were no restrictions when you bought the ticket. I would try again with your insurers.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. We had a similar situation with an internal flight in Canada. We didn't claim on our travel insurance as the refund we received of half our insurance premium for the trip was more than the cost of the internal flight. A claim, whether successful or not, would have meant no premium refund. We do have pre existing medical conditions which meant the cost of the travel insurance was high.0

Or tell us on what grounds your insurers say you are not covered.
