    Can the OP give details of the bicycle purchased
    Most modern bicycles have sealed bottom brackets, no maintenance / adjustment required
    Rear axles do not easily bend, I find quick release (hollow) rear axles more substantial than solid ones, only ever bent one rear axle, that was solid. I'm 90kg and ride around 150 miles a week
    Do have to ride a little sympathetically, not dropping off high kerbs and standing up on the pedals when appropriate
