Changing from credit note to refund

Afternoon all.
We had a holiday planned back in April flying from Belfast to Portugal with easy jet. The holiday was a package holiday booked with a local travel agents.
On the 10th April they emailed me (we were due to fly on the 19th) and offered either credit note vaild until March 21 or simply a change of dates. They stated a refund was not available.
I accepted the credit note as, at the time, I didn't realise that they should have also offered the refund.
I am in the shielding group and still don't feel that I will be comfortable to travel before March so contacted them to seek advice. I mentioned that a refund had not been offered and I now realise it should have been. They came back with this reply:
"I have checked you booking and you had not been offered a refund at the time as the flights had not been cancelled at that stage. We had offered a change of dates or a Monetary credit as a good will gesture as EasyJet flights had still been live."
I've done a quick search and can not find the date in which easyjet cancelled flights.
I'm basically wondering if I have to stuck it up and either lose the money or fly Jan/Feb time if I feel comfortable doing so then or are they chancing their arm?
If anyone can offer advice or find anything with dates in which easy jet cancelled flights I would really appreciate it!
Thanks in advance 😊

Presumably the initial credit note offer was because the accom was no longer available? If this was an ATOL protected package booking (check your ATOL cert) then the cancellation of any part of the package entitled you to a fkll refund in 14 days. So the flight cancellation date would have been irrelevant.
However, if you have already accepted the credit note offer, that's what you are now stuck with-there is no requirement for them to now offer you a refund.
No free lunch, and no free laptop

Did they say why they were offering the change of date or credit?
Could it have been because FCO advice was against travel to Portugal although the flights and accommodation were still available?
