Life is like a bath, the longer you are in it the more wrinkly you become.1

I'd suggest insect repellent (or Avon skin so soft) and bite cream - we got eaten alive during a holiday to Split in September a couple of years ago. I'm also not someone who tends to get bitten.
It was a fantastic holiday though, and I'd definitely go back.1 -
Very few sandy beaches, mostly shingle. I found - when using buses, buy a ticket at the bus office, not on the bus itself. Now a gainfully employed bassist again - WooHoo!1

You’ll need swim shoes if you go swimming near rocks because of spikey sea anemones.
Tourist office websites have lots of accommodation, you don’t need to restrict yourself to Airbnb.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.1 -

It was a fantastic holiday though, and I'd definitely go back.Just to point out that Avon skin-so-soft is not an insect repellent. It was marketed as such by Avon very briefly many years ago with claims that our Armed Forces used it in Scotland against midges. That was when it was called 'bath oil' and was incredibly greasy.Since then, it has undergone many changes in content and packaging.I'm not sure if it works or is an urban myth. However, I've used in conjunction with insect repellent and after sun with insect repellent since 1996.There are different types, you need the original one.

Like ^^^^^......So-Soft original is an oil, so forms a barrier. Spray it on, then spread it lightly with your hand. Then apply mozzie spray with no more than 50% deet.....job's a good 'un.1

A couple of easy to reach islands from Split by ferry are Brac (50 minutes) and Hvar (2 hours). I've been to both, beautiful destinations, but rocky beaches. I preferred Brac as it wasn't as busy.
Croatia is in the EU but not the Eurozone. Currency is the Kuna, don't be tempted to use the Euro as you'll lose out on the exchange rate plus any change will in any case be in Kuna.

Thanks all so need insect stuff/bite stuff/sun stuff and pool shoes. Good tips as usual! Brac it is then although probably everywhere will be quiet I expect.0
