Solicitor won't accept post office document check?

i had my identity verified at the post office as per the guidance on the .GOV site for identity verification, my solicitors are dealing with my conveyancing and said that it's not an acceptable form of identity being verification from the post office. They said they the government needs verification but i can't submit from a government certified company as they won't accept. I'm a little confused? Any advice please?

You normally give your ID directly to your solicitor for them to check.
I've not heard of it done another way.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Just ask your solicitors to clarify exactly what it is they need.0

Just had this same situation myself. They sent me an app to download and I had to take a pic of my passport and upload a short video of my face.
They then said it wasn't clear enough for verification so I did a 10 second watsapp video chat with the solicitor and it was all fine.0 -
Provide whatever the solicitor will accept. No point in holding things up.I am not a cat (But my friend is)0

There's no obligation on solicitors to accept PO-certified documents. You'll need to provide whatever their own policy requires.2

Solicitors themselves check with the certifier that it was they who certified your ID documents and that the photographs are a true likeness. Unfortunately, with the Post Office, it is impossible to actually speak to the person who certified you as there is no direct line to contact that person and without the verbal confirmation, solicitors cannot accept the ID. Best way is to go into the solicitors and get it done by their receptionist then and there. If that is not possible, you will need to find a suitably qualified person that the solicitor can contact by telephone and be able to trace them by their qualifying body, i.e. solicitor/accountant/mortgage adviser/financial adviser/police officer/doctor etc.3

Thanks Tiglet and others, will go through the app, just a pain as forked out £13 for the PO check. Won't make waves, will just get it done if it's per solicitor policy.0

Do you know a Dr or Chartered Accountant? They can certify copies of your ID for you without going into the solicitors. I'm relocating 100 miles away and chose a solicitor I have used before in that area so couldn't just "pop" in and they were fine with my docs I sent in the post0

My solicitors suggested I go to a nearby firm of solicitors (without specifying which one) and get my documents verified by them.
I emailed a few for quotes, and one did it for £10. I got the impression that it was either a common courtesy with law firms or a requirement to offer the service, because all of them came back with a response.0 -
