Moisturiser for dry skin

Hi, the last few months I’ve have developed dry skin patches either side is of my nose. I’ve tried a couple of different things like E45 or Dr Botanics cream. Can anyone recommend a good day or preferably a night cream that works well with dry skin patches. I really do not want one that feels heavy or leaves your skin feeling sticky. I know I’m really fussy.

Thanks in advance.

I'm not being funny, but try drinking more water, to moisturise yourself from the inside. If you wear glasses or sunglasses a lot, the dry patches could be caused by friction. I use an Evian Brumisateur which is literally an aerosol of Evian, during the day, when hot. Nivea Visage is light. Some of the Clarins and Clinique moisturisers, too. I bought Le Petit Olivier serum from T K Maxx, which was excellent.
  • I suffer from dry eyes and the consultant told me to tax flax seed oil, it has improved the situation and the side effect is my skin and hair seem to have benefitted.  Might be worth a try.
  • To take not to tax!!!!
  • Aveeno skin relief cream. I tried it after reading a similar thread on her a few months ago, its cleared up my eczema
  • Hello everyone!
Clinique cream moisturise skin well. It is amazing for dry skin.
But also: dry skin is just a symptom, you have to know the reason why your skin became so dry.
People say nothing is impossible, but we do nothing every day.

    Yep, seconding this.

I can't actually give any recommendations because the moisturisers I've found effective for my sensitive, prone-to-dehydration skin all are heavy and feel greasy at least for a while. The heaviest ones I use overnight so the feeling won't bother me, but I've also got used to it to an extent. (It's a choice between that or the pain of cracked, itchy, burning dry skin so feeling like an oil slick actually is preferable for me!)

My rheumatologist always says ‘lubricate, don’t just hydrate!’

He recommends high strength Omega three Supplements
  • Very dry skin on either side of my nose due to work envoirement

I slap on the Nivea as it works as a barrier so its not so sore to cleanse my face end of the day

At night I put on an oil balm, or just an oil, depending on what I have

Firstly I would suggest stopping using any kind of wipes on your face you do, also avoid products with alcohol, essential oils or fragrance then try this routine
Double cleanse, first of all with a balm then a hydrating cleanser, I like inky list oat balm and cerave green cleanser
Toner, spray it on - I like Laneige cream skin
Hyaluranoic acid I like Neutrogena unfragranced  cream-gel
moisturiser - I like cerave lotion or cream depending on what mood my skin is in
If its day time use an spf - I like biore water spf50 which is clear no white and inky list spf30 which is tinted, both are great primers under makeup
I have rosacea, blepharitis, seb derm, seb k and all round sensitive sun-damaged moody skin that used to have acne, and following this routine which is much easier then it sounds has made a huge positive difference,

  • I shall be following with interest - as my skin was dry anyway and I don't know whether it's age or cutting out all possible oil (the calories!) from a diet that is veering towards WFPB (Whole Food Plant Based - ie that means no oil).

I have read that an alternative source of Essential Oils is purslane - which, I gather, is getting quite a following now. That means eating purslane - so have got some duly planted in my garden now and hope it "takes". Seems to be a plant that gets relatively "left alone" by pests and be year-round availability - so time will tell on both those fronts.
