Good morning and thank you for starting the thread nmlc.
Bellabella I'm sorry to read your news about your mum.
It is 20° here and that feels cool! Yesterday was very hot and humid so naturally I decided to empty out the compost bin and spread the contents as lovely rich mulch for the plants, with a little kept back to use later. I started another batch after that and I got so hot that I spent the rest of the day in the shade with a book.
In the early evening we had rolling thunder for quite a long time but no lightning that we could see, then a brief shower but not really enough to do more than a quick dampening and even then, not heavy enough even to wet the earth under the trees. Most things are surviving but there is a rhododendron that is looking droopy so I'll give that a drink later.
I went to bed quite early and this morning OH has told me that there were badgers in the garden, he saw one big one and heard at least one more and I've only ever seen one badger and that was dead so I must try to stay awake. But then, if I do, the badgers are bound to stay away.
Today I will have a walk while it is still cool enough to enjoy it and then get on with my favourite activity, messing about aimlessly.
Hope everyone has a good day.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back13 -

left over chicken for dinner tonight with some ham and salad might do some stuffed potato skins to go with them will see if I can bear the oven on.
Nels well done on your walk thats blooming brilliant !!!if you have a hot water bottle fill it with cold water and freeze then take to bed, I wrap mine in a small towel in bed and its bliss it does help to keep you cool xxx

Back to wish the SNOOZERS a happy anniversary and thinking of BELLA with mum worries. Just double checked our local forecast and the thunderstorms have been postponed yet again! Now due tea-time. I am looking forward to having something to watch for a change. AOD I have only ever seen two badgers - one was dead beside the road and the other was dicing with death trundling across the road at dusk in front of our car! We used to see foxes around here but they seem to have deserted us now and not seen one in ages. Shame as it's lovely to see different wildlife. I am now down to squirrels and birds but I am told there are a lot of hedgehogs around. x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"14

Morning all, yesterday we had the rain, all 5 seconds of it so if you blinked you'd missed it, unlike some parts of Wales which had a deluge.Mr Fix It fixed the car yesterday but today his back is aching from twisting himself to reach under it, a likely story to get out of any house work
I stood guard while he led on the floor just in case he got stuck, although what I could have done about it I don't know, except call for help I suppose. I had a lovely socially distanced conversation with our next-door-but-one neighbour, who I hadn't seen for ages. It was good to catch up with her news and to learn that all her family members are ok, although she's having similar problems communicating about this virus ( read shopping at Al*is ) to her Nan as I am with Dad.
Later I want to sort out my shopping list so I'm ready for a game of "chase the online slot". I asked Dad last night for his but he's going to go himself he thinks, probably the day the shielding here ends. He has a list that includes every shop in town apparently, even the chip shop is probably on there !Again this morning the sun is shining and it's going to be hot, but I need to clean through downstairs before someone writes their name in the dust. I shall start in the living room and work my way through until I get too hot, because there's always tomorrow or the day after to finish it off. I have a load in the WM and a towel wash awaiting it's turn, the DW needs emptying too, I have a busy day ahead but at least I had a good sleep last night, probably from exhaustion.Gers hope Mum feels bit more awake today.TA happy 16th birthday to your DGD. Hope you feel a bit brighter today too.Nelski wow a walk to the postbox, you'll soon be doing the London MarathonMind you if your postbox is as far as ours from us it will feel like a marathon.
Snoozer happy anniversary to you and Steve, have a lovely day and meal.Bella hope Mum gets on ok at the hospital today.dp1 hopefully the dentist will surprise you with a low price.Dumpling hope Lee will be able to go back to college soon.taff I had a pale blue topped formica table ( was Mum's ) here when I first moved in as there was no kitchen, only a sink unit. Ahhhhh, that brings back memories of me playing with my Sindy dolls on it when I was a young girl..... many moons ago.Right wm finished so I'll hang the washing out but I think I'll leave the cleaning till after lunch, it's too hot to rush so I'll just take my time as I do with everything these daysTake care all, stay safe and well. Hugs to all in need.nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently14 -
Phew, I'm back from the walk with a beetroot red face and melting. It's not enormously hot and we were under trees for the most part but it's very humid.
Thanks for the good wishes, I forgot to say that it's also two years since Steve's diagnosis. We were in Edinburgh at the festival coming to terms with it. Hopefully we'll have many more anniversaries and will go back to the festival when it returns.11 -
Just popping back to wish Snoozer Happy Anniversary although my tablet was determined that it should be Happy Christmas.
I've been for a walk, thought it would be nice and cool under the trees but it was very warm and close. Had a nice lick from a friendly dog, he was obviously helping my hands to cool down. Got some nice rotten wood for my compost and some bits of fallen bark. And some feathers.
Apparently the badger was really big, OH says spaniel size but a bit fatter. I've seen just one fox in the garden, where we used to live had a big population of urban foxes, we sometimes had a foxy famiky playing outside. I liked them until they killed the hedgehogs.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back8 -
Morning all,I did a bit of housework earlier, when it was a bit cooler. I slept downstairs last night as the thunder was due and I was worried the pooch would be trying to hide, but she never budged
.It wasn't right overhead though the sheet lightning was pretty awesome, I put my eyemask on after watching from the back door for a bit. Loads of local pics on Fb this morning. Very little rain at all though.
I went in town on our little bus yesterday, picked up some reduced bits in marks which we had for tea last night. A linen dress and a pair of the stretchy cropped pants I like fell into my trolley - rude not to at half priceI'll be putting them away for next summers trip. Town was pretty quiet, quite a few shops boarded up.The BHF shop wasnt open but the CR one was- didnt go in as I got some new books for DH from the Works, all ones I'll read too in their 3 for a fiver deal.
Bella thinking of you and your DM today xHappy Anniversary to the Snoozers, have a lovely dayTake care all xx:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)12 -
Another one popping back for a quick post.BELLA - my thoughts are with you and your DM.SNOOZER - Happy Anniversary to you both. No matter the restrictions I'm sure you'll both have a good time remembering different times. The promised thunderstorms and heavy rain has yet to put in an appearance. The sky is pure white cloud, no blue and no grey.Today would be the birthday of my late brother, he's swirling through my thoughts today.9

Evening all,
Very warm and humid today, I have a monitor on for 24 hours until 10 am tomorrow......very awkward thing which is making me feel all hot and bothered....I hope that it won't show high blood pressure as I really don't want to add yet another med to the list which is getting longer by the month.
Bella....sorry to hear your mother's news.
Dumpling.....try to get out for a few mins in the air, helps everything. Hope that Lee gets back to college soon.
Happy anniversary Snoozer.....difficult to get into celebration when things are so
tight.......I find myself totally disinterested in going out......think it's nerves acting up.......especially being on lockdown again.
Stay safe everybody
