The threads start off with the reasons people are adversely effected. Then Profit is mentioned its not really a profit question.
PPE supplier is an interesting one because international logistics, transportation and stock availability was hit hard during full lock down.  (this is why .gov ordered direct from manufacturers and got the military to transport).
Many had no stock at all for weeks/months.
  • Thanks for all the input guys. The differences in opinion are really interesting - they pretty much sum up how I’m thinking. One day I’m settled in my mind that I’m going to claim, the next day I’ve changed my mind.

I’ve registered for one HMRC’s webinars regarding the grant. Has anyone joined one of these or does anyone know of someone who has? Wondering if they’re helpful or just a waste of time.

If I’m still unsure come the 17th, I think I’m going to hold off and see what happens. There’s no hurry, I have 2 months to claim. If my area goes into lockdown or if myself or a family members is infected, then I’d have a much stronger case for claiming it.
If you're reasonably familiar with the guidance, the webinars are fairly pointless. In particular, while they offer the facility to ask questions, they'll only answer with copy/pasted standard responses, which often don't get to the crux of questions that are more than the very basics.

It can be as simple as you have had to buy PPE, in my case business is going again but levels have not returned to pre corvid19 levels so easy to justify.
If business has changed due to corvid19 you can apply, if you genuinely don't need the money its up to you if you apply or not.
