Unauthorised charge for hotel room damages

Hi recently stayed at an independent b&b booked on line using a card since check out we have been charged with water damage to a chest of drawers which we knew nothing about the hotel say they have emailed however despite having the correct email from the confirmation of the booking they sent the email regarding the damage to the wrong address they said they rang but left no message how can we dispute this we have asked for photographs of the asked alleged damages but they have not responded? Even if there was damages how do we know it wasn’t them trying to extort money out of us to make up for lost income during Covid???
Any ideas? Thanks

Dispute the charge with your card provider so it is put on hold until it can be proven as a valid charge (or otherwise).0
