Is it normal?
I made contact with our solicitor today as we had our mortgage offer finalised on friday, just to find out what happens next.
While talking to him, i asked if he had any indication of what stage our buyer is at (we accepted there offer on the 2nd of July) and to find out if they are prepared to move ASAP.
He said he hasnt heard anything yet but will chase there solicitor today
Is it normal for him not to hear anything? Iam generally just an anxious person over thinking there may be problems at oir buyers end. My OH is fed up listening to me.
We are in scotland so dont have any mortgage valuation to be done, what i have read it sounds easier north of the border to buy and sell. To add our estate agent has taken her sale board, im guessing she may have checked everything out with our buyer before removing it.
Anyone have any thoughts or am i over thinking things.
Thanks

I suggest you wait to see what your solicitor says. Maybe your buyer was waiting to hear from news from your solicitor?

We had the sale fall through in June as the buyer couldnt get a mortgage, iam worried this could be a repeat. But again we are almost 6 weeks on with these buyers compared to 2 weeks with the first buyer.0 -
Relax. Solicitors often take a few days to respond, especially if their reply is dependent on someone else's reply, which might in turn depend on someone else's... and so on. And that's in normal times without the additional factor of Covid.
Until and unless you hear something negative, assume it's all going through OK.1 -
I wouldn't get concerned yet. It's been discussed on other threads that solicitors still communicate by letter even if their offices are near each other, and i'm finding that a letter takes most of a week to arrive these days. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker1

I am also in Scotland and feel like I have no idea what is happening with my purchase. Since our offer was accepted for the property on 7th July we have got our mortgage offer on 21st. I waited 2 weeks to hear back from solicitor, I then emailed her back that same day and asked an important question. It's yet another week later and I've not heard anything.
I know people are working from home and have other clients but to wait weeks for replies and then more weeks it's just a bit odd. My mortgage offer runs out soon so I'm getting upset as I expected to at least have a date by now.0
