Wheel Stud Size?
I've recently bought a VW van and it's fitted out with 17" aftermarker alloys made by AC Wheels.
It turns out the previous owner had cross-threaded one of the bolts. I've got it out and I'm going to re-tap the hub but now not sure on the bolt size as I don't have any experience with aftermarket wheels or if they are likely to use some wild and wonderful bolt size.
The bolt has a M14 x 1.5mm thread which is 35mm long. The bolt is about 55mm long and has a tapered head.
Does anyone have an idea what I should order?
Cheers/

Do you mean a stud, or a bolt?
These are studs.
The hub is not threaded. The studs are pressed in from behind the hub, which you'll almost certainly need to remove for the work. You then thread nuts onto the studs.
The only thing that the type of wheel will vary is the length of either stud or bolt required, and you can see if the ones you've got aren't long enough just by looking at how much protrudes through the wheel... The thread will be the same as all the other ones on the vehicle...
What "VW van" is it? That could cover anything from a Caddy to an LT.0 -
Sorry, my bad with the wrong word. It's a bolt so I'm going to chase out the thread on the hole in the hub. The measurements are off the other bolts but wasn't sure if all the different wheel manufacturers have different standards. My guess is that its a M14 x 1.5 mm, 35 mm thread with a 60 deg taper.....which are commonly available.
It's a T5 BTW.0 -
Ideally you need a new hub.0

Wheel stud / nut / bolt threads are nothing special and are pretty standard across the majority of makes, the vast majority using 12mm or 14mm x 1.5mm. TheT5 is listed as 14mm x 1.5mm. The correct length and seat type will be determined by the particular aftermarket wheel

In this situation I'd take one of the other bolts to a wheel specialist and say "have you got one of these please?"Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0

Hi, I did exactly the same thing on my Mums Honda whilst fitting new brakes, my local independent Honda specialist re-threaded one stud & fitted one new one. Total cost £66, not too bad as I was told it might need a whole new hub.0
