Hi I have received a solicitors letter saying DO NOT IGNORE DEMAND FOR PAYMENT BEFORE COURT ACTION.  For the sum of £160 due to Vehicle Control services ltd. im a private hire driver and according to them i picked up a hire in the drop off zone at Edinburgh Airport in September2019. I do not remember this and feel this is a ridiculous charge. what's the implications if i ignore this as i haven't been working in 5 months and cannot afford it. They are saying i have 7 days to pay it.

A lot will depend on whether the keeper lives in Scotland or not, since (at the moment) a keeper in that nation cannot be held liable for a PCN.
It is imperative that the driver's identity is never revealed, not even on here. Edit your post to remove any hint about who might have been driving, using the cog-like edit button near the top right of your post.

The OP has stated that the PCN relates to Edinburgh Airport so there is no keeper liability.

Nine times out of ten these tickets are scams, so consider complaining to your MP., it can cause the scammer extra costs, and in some cases, cancellation. 

Parliament is well aware of the MO of these private parking companies, many of whom are former clampers, and on 15th March 2019 a Bill was enacted to curb the excesses of these shysters. Codes of Practice are being drawn up, an independent appeals service will be set up later this year,

Just as the clampers were finally closed down, so hopefully will many of these companies, persistent offenders denied access to the DVLA database and unable to operate.

Hopefully life will become impossible for the worst of these scammers, but until this is done you should still complain to your MP, citing the new legislation.
