Need some advice regarding taking redundancy

Hi all, ive been working as a waitress in a golf club for 21 years, I was on minium 4 days a week, 32 hours, at £9.62 per hour. And always worked extra hours. Long story short, company restructering and making redundancys and we were all told to apply for a new role in the company or basically our own role. So my option was to apply for a part time waitress position, ( which was my job anyway) The offer was 24 hours a week over 3 days at £8.72.  I didnt feel that having my hourly rate of pay cut was fair so i declined and took reduncancy.  Should i have been made redundant because i didnt want to do the same job but on lower pay?
