Payslip checks from Santander

We are buying a new house and have been initially approved by Santander. We have sent them our most recent payslips and next week we have our full interview with them.

I am worried because I may be changing jobs in October and then will be on mat leave from November (because we don’t do things by half) and I’m worried if we haven’t moved by then this could cause a problem for getting the mortgage.

Will Santander require further payslips if this process takes too long? How long are mortgage offers valid for?

Thanks.

  • I am about to complete with a Santander mortgage. I was due to start a new job the month after mortgage application. I gave my last payslip from current job and contract for the new job. Santander didn’t seem at all concerned about me changing roles and in the end did the affordability Etc on my old job paperwork. Both jobs were NHS- but different trusts- not sure of that made a difference.

If you change jobs then you'll have to inform the lender, who will probably pull the offer. Most lenders will need you to have been employed for 3+ months in your new role before considering you for a new offer.

I'm guessing you are staying with the same employer and changing your job role, as you are unlikely to get maternity benefit one month in to a completely new job.
