Universal credit and moving home as a home owner ..

Howdy !
I live in a flat ..no mortgage . However, if I decide to move in the future would anynody know the process?
After being more or less up to speed as a person with a mild disability since applying for universal credit since jan last year , I am worried about having everything stopped / having to justify my position / starting over again the whole process.
Of course living in a flat incurs service charges, something recently awarded to me by the decision makers .
As a person over 55, I could either try to buy another flat, or go into sheltered housing where the service charges are astronomical.
I appreciate that being universal credit , it would probably be a very difficult question to answer.

Just because you move home in itself should not cause a problem. You should not need to make a new claim just give details of your change of circumstances. If you move into rented accommodation the local housing allowance would be taken into consideration. Your question seems to be mainly about service charges. For benefit purposes there are allowable service charges which include: services to communal areas, maintenance, cleaning, H&S checks, utilities, locks, aerials for free TV, rubbish collection, CCTV, staff e.g. caretaker; services to the individual property e.g. window cleaning ( not ground floor), management fees. This is not a exhaustive list. Charges that would not be included utilities, cleaning for your property, services or facilities that have public funding, internet, food, medical services, personal care. If your new property included any of these you would need to provide a breakdown of the charges and those not paid by UC would have to be covered by yourself. For home owners there is a waiting period of 9 months but as you are already receiving service charges I assume you have alrewdy been through this.1
