Claiming for a mobile phone on Halifax home insurance - should I or shouldn't I?

Hi all - I dropped my phone and a quote for repair came to £450.
I spoke with Halifax insurance and they said that with an excess of £100 I could claim for the repair, but that my renewal cost and excess could go up.
Tricky question but I wonder - does anybody know roughly how much this could be? My annual policy is less than £300/year but I don't want to make a mistake by claiming if, say, it is a large jump in renewal cost and stays like that for many years...
Any help hugely appreciated!

When I made a claim last year on my household insurance, my excess remained the same but my renewal this year increased by about £60. My no claims discount reduced slightly as well (which obviously impacted in part on the increased premium). The claim I made was roughly £1k.

I claimed on my insurance because a) I couldn't afford to replace the items without making a claim and b) because that's the reason I purchased insurance anyway.
  • Thank you - that's really useful.
