Hello Forum Memebers.
New here after google. Need advice please
I am turning 18 soon and want to find out what my options are.
My mum is single mum to 5 inc me. She works 2 jobs - the best she can to provide for us. Please don't judge my mum, she has suffered 20 years and finally come away.
Currently getting CTC, WTC, housing and council tax help too.
I believe I will be removed from the above tax credits.
I will be looking for work but given the current climate it will be hard.
What can I do, apply for? or what will happen to our situation?
Does my mum now have to pay extra?
I hope I made sense.
Look forward to responses from you lovely people

IIf you are not returning to non advanced education then her benefits for you will end in the nest few weeks and this will include tax credits and child benefit. If you're not working then her housing benefit will not have any non dependant deductions. If she's claiming the single person discount on her council tax then she will need to report the changes to her local council. If you're not work and you're looking for work then once her benefits end for you, you will be able to claim Universal Credit for yourself. As you are under 25 then you'll be entitled to £342.72 per month. You won't be able to claim for any rent because you're living at home with your mum.

Your mum is working very hard to provide for you.
As you say, finding work in the current situation will not be easy but make a start as soon as possible.
Work out with mum a contribution from your UC to help cover the loss of benefits.1 -

Thank you so much for the lovely words. Yes that is what I will do.

Hi @youngman19When you sign on for UC, have a chat with your Work Coach (unfortunately this will only be by phone at the moment) about the help and support they can offer. There are lots of initiatives to help young people at the moment as the Government recognise how hard it is going to be for young people to find work in the current climate. Keep positive and keep moving forward, there will be jobs out there and your attitude and determination to succeed will be a major contributory factor to your success.Good luck Sir, and let us know how you get on
