Council tax reduction.

I'll try to keep this simple as to list
everything would confuse the issue.
As new recipients of UC, will our council tax change constantly?
We have just been told the most recent change is due to our income changing.......this will be the case over the next month or two, not vast differences in income but changes nonetheless (me returning to work part time whilst my wife has lost her job but is being paid her notice).
Does this sound correct?
If so, so be it, but it seems crazy not having the foggiest idea of how much council tax you'll be paying from month to month.
Cheers.

If your income is changing then yes your council tax eligibility may change. You will always get notice of changes but I would suggest always paying something each month regardless of instalment changes to make sure you do not get too far behind.1

Each month your local authority will get information from UC about how your UC award for the month has been calculated. They then have to adjust the Council Tax Reduction which means the amount payable varies.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.2

Thank you, there have been a number of extenuating circumstances (aka admin !!!!!! ups) but we've gone from firstly paying £125 a month - our original figure - to being told 3 weeks ago that had been reduced to £6 a month to it now being £65 a month, which to me at least seems pretty up and down.KatrinaWaves said:If your income is changing then yes your council tax eligibility may change. You will always get notice of changes but I would suggest always paying something each month regardless of instalment changes to make sure you do not get too far behind.

Thank you, as explained in part abovr it just seems quite volatile with regards to the figures jumping up and down.calcotti said:Each month your local authority will get information from UC about how your UC award for the month has been calculated. I agree it's not helpful for budgeting (and also creates a lot of work for local authorities).Bazzalona13295 said:
