Morning all haven't been on for a few days as so much going on so I hope you are all well and bearing up with this heat.
Mum has had more bad news and now has a 2 WW for a colonoscopy as they have found abnormalities in the bowel so we need to add that into the mix she is off for her minor procedure tomorrow . In other bad news was we are supposed to be off to Mauritius in November rebooked from June with some friends as it is both of our 30th wedding anniversaries but we are transiting through Dubai which entails covid testing before boarding a plane at both ends and 2 weeks quarantine on return I will be calling my insurance company for advice as i can't leave the girls too look after mum for a month but added to this there has been an ecological disaster as an oil tanker has hit the reefs and discharged some of its fuel tanks so what with all this and DD2s wedding farce I think I will be joining Nels to Narnia
OK enough of the woe is me I have a roof over my head plenty of food ,a loving family and this thread to use as a sounding board so although its been a pretty carp year so far I am truly blessed.
Today I am tidying the house and getting through the washing . Dinner tonight stuffed chicken breast and veg
Thanks for reading along hope you all manage to stay cool ,hugs to the poor lies, sleep deprived and all those with worries xxSlava Ukraini11 -
Bella, it all seems horrible now, but take it from an oldie who has been there and done most of it.........in years to come you will look back and see how everything fitted together and worked out for the best. I'm not just being boring and pollyanna-ish, it is actually true, though I know you will not really believe it until it happens. Then you will say the same thing to someone younger and they won't believe it either.
Sigh.I believe that friends are quiet angels

Hello all, it's overcast but pleasantly warm at 21 degrees. Will hit 27 later with the thunder and lightening, hope it clears the air by tonight, as I was on the night shift again
I honestly think I could get a job as nightwatchman somewhere.
This morning we went gadding in the car and took in some scenery. The roads were quite and not as many cars about, more like it was 10 years ago. We called in at the van to check it was ok and still there, but now we have a rattle in the car, so Mr fix It is on the case. Typical, it's the first time we've been out for a long run in the car. Apparently the heat shield of the catalytic converter is loose (?) so he's got his mechanics hat on. He knows exactly what to do but he doesn't know if he can get at it, if not he's has a friend who owns a garage so he could put it up on one of his ramps. Oh well c'est la vie. I haven't got the energy to do much else today except putting the bins out ready for tomorrow.Tea tonight will be spanish-ish omelette, as there are lots of bits and bobs in the fridge that needs using up.Bella sorry about your news re your Mum and hols. Extra hugs winging their way to you.Camelot hope work goes well tomorrow.TA I have a secret weapon when it comes to emptying my freezer..... my DGS. He had seconds of lunch yesterday so there wasn't much of that leftoverHugs to anyone who is finding daily life a struggle. Most of us seem to be going from bad to worse on a daily basis.Right I've been summoned to give moral support to Mr Fix It while he swears at the car !Take care all, enjoy the day if you can. Keep safe and well.nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently11 -
OH hates this weather, with avengeance. I am OK-ish with it. Reminds me of my visits to India most years, but here the houses keep the heat. There everything is designed for the heat.Even the arbour Chez Nous is almost too warm to sit comfortably but the thermometer is 32 degrees and rising. Methinks a retreat to the airconditioned bedroom later.Tomorrow we do a long journey to help empty a flat. Oh the joys.Sewing machine ready to make some cot sheets for baby grandchild due anytime now.Even the keys on the keyboard are sticky with the heat.At least being retired means I can be lazy today. Cooling wafts for those who can't.11

Afternoon everyone
Lovely day here again - not as hot as some of you in the South but still warm. Had a lovely breakfast/brunch in a local cafe with DD and little one this morning - taking advantage of the half price offer. Had to buy a new kettle this morning - mine boiled and didn't switch itself off - I had to pull the plug out quickly. Luckily I was in the kitchen and hadn't popped it on and went to do something else as I often do.
Last night just before bedtime I got grand daughters little watering can out and I had the big one and she 'helped' me water the plants. She was soaking ! She mostly watered the paving stones and our feet - she loved it and laughed so hard!
This afternoon she's going to nursery for the first time - just for an hour and then it'll gradually increase as she's going to go one day a week in September when I go back to work. hopefully she'll be ok
I'm struggling to get a home delivery slot again - both Tesco and Asda are fully booked for the next 3 weeks. I'll just have to walk along to asda one day this week and get the bus home
Hope everyone has a good day8 -
Late start here as we were woken at 4.30am by one of the cats bringing us a present... a mouse which she let go in our bedroom!
She was so pleased with herself, it was her trying to meow without dropping it that woke us. Luckily DH managed to catch it quite quickly, find a glass to put it in and then throw some clothes on and release it in a little wooded area at the bottom of the road 😆. Another scorching day today, hoping that we will get some of the thunderstorms that are forecast as the garden is in dire need of some water.
Baskets and pots all watered.
Birdfeeders and bird baths all filled, six goldfinches on the sunflower hearts this morning, they put a smile on my face🙂.
Spaghetti carbonara for an easy tea tonight - far too hot to put the oven on.
Have a lovely day all

Evening all,
We have finally admitted defeat on getting our knitting group together before the library let's us in again........I can't go as it is outside my lockdown area and a couple of others are in the same boat.
OH and I had our main meal at lunchtime......he prefers to eat then and I don't mind......we had lamb chops, Hasselback potatoes, onions, broccoli and carrots, with small muffin to follow......I will have a snack later as I don't feel hungry yet.
Not very warm here today, pleasant enough until it started to rain earlier, proved to be just a shower, so hopefully we are not into constant rain yet.
Out early tomorrow to have my monitor set up, then back on Wednesday to have it off.
Take care to stay safe everybody
