O/S Daily Monday 10 August 2020
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH up and gone to work stupid stupid early, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge, DS1 getting ready for work and DS2 settled and happy.
Cloudy overcast start to the day - but sky due to clear and it be another hot and sunny day.
Lunch yesterday was beef with all the extras - nice it was too, some LO's so will use them to make another meal.
I have a wash load to peg out, and the garden and greenhouse need watering.
Back to work today - we have some training this morning so that will be something different.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all! the awake stick hit me with a vengeance. Not even the birds are up here yet except for one crow growing about it. Interesting to hear cars and lorries moving about in the street, just shows it's back to 'normal' here. And yet infections are on the up and the councils FB page is at pains to emphasise this is due to outbreaks at large employers. Which makes you wonder what are these employers doing so that the spread of infection is unchecked on their premises. Oh well, another day etc...Plans for today if it's not too hot or thunderstorming are to dig a little bit and see what happens.Supper last night was another CBA so courgette fritters and runner beans was the menu, and there are still loads of runner beans left, so they're lunch and supper too, best get into the freezer and see what I can add to them. Probably mince with probably meatballs in it's future. The italina lessons continue. Before long , I'll be able to say a sentence without cringing at mistakes but it'll only be along the lines of john has a dog and his sister has a cat' or something like that but it all helps. So that's my day in a nutshell. Italian, digging and probably napping on the sofa later because i am the epitome of rock and rollHey all reading along, stay safe out there in scaryland, mooching along Monday to you all!Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi16

Morning all,
It is very hot here forecast is for Thunder this afternoon so cloudy outside. Now forecast thunder or rain every day for the next 10 days . So inside jobs will be done.
S/C day. Chicken casserole with whatever veg I throw in from the freezer, along with some lentils and pasta.
Starting my last week volunteering at the food bank which will be today and Friday. I like being able to help other folk out. Ending as everyone can go out now.
Another highlight of my day is it rubbish day tomorrow so must get the bins ready.

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. And Buongiorno TAFF!
A hot and humid day ahead according to forecast with possible thunder and lightening tonight. It will be another slothful day for me then, pottering along doing what I fancy, which is probably nothing! I keep looking at the windows which, thanks to the Sparkly Cat, are full of snuffle marks made whilst keeping the neighbourhood cats under surveillance so I really should clean those.
Thanks to my Tesco delivery. which arrived all p and c, the fridge is full and fruit and veg stocks replenished. I have been trying to get freezer stocks down a bit before ordering anything else to put in them as the large one is again looking in need of defrosting. The smaller one goes a lot longer between defrosts for some reason.
DD sent me loads of photos of the Llama trek. She said it had been a wonderful (but sadly expensive!) day, enjoyed by all. As had the pancakes afterwards. Naughty but nice piled high with fruit, cream and ice cream.
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all who need them. Take care one and all and stay safe x

Good morning folks.Yesterday I mostly ate sugar. ☹️☹️ What a disaster, today will be better.I returned to the stationery shop to collect my pen, inevitability I bought a couple more cards. On my way back I collected an order from M&S. The order was two jumpers and a pair of trousers. One jumper is going straight back, it's so thin it's almost see through. The quality is awful despite it being merino wool. The other one, 100% cotton is much better quality.Last night I set to clearing up and tidying my one deep drawer! I've now got a big bag of unwanted clothes and shoes for the charity shop. For my hip op I had bought two pairs of slip on shoes which I hated. They are going! 😁 The drawer is now neat and there's no clothes piled up in corners. Our schools start back on Wednesday here. Parents everywhere are very relieved . There hasn't been any deaths from the virus in Scotland for 24 days with big clusters in Aberdeen and a few in Greater Glasgow & Clyde keeping us all on tenterhooks.TA. - llama trek sounds fun, it's good that the girls enjoyed it.TAFF - have lovely naps, it's definitely napping weather.I hope that everyone has a happy Monday.16

Morning
Gorgeous day again seems today may well be the last day before the storms strike so make the most of the spa if you can
Wont be sorry to see some cooler weather for a decent sleep tbh going 3 rounds with my duvet every night is no fun when I have to put it all back together every morning
Kitchen is a bit of a bomb site so that's on the to do list today. I ventured into the dreaded corner cupboard which stretches back so far I am beginning to wonder if I should climb in and visit Narnia. Anyway I did one shelf and dug out 6 chilli jams 3 pickled shallots and a couple of pickled onion and cucumbers. Need to finish that today then maybe open a market stall
Dinner tonight is seabass with a garlic and caper sauce and maybe some chips
Have a lovely day all16 -
Good morning, and thanks NMLC, hope your training goes well. Its cloudy here, as was most of yesterday, we went out for a walk and managed 3.5 miles. not much else happened, just a bit of tidying.Today, what excitement beckons today - well, there's a visit to the hairdresser, and a friend has invited me to visit this afternoon. She was talking about sitting in the garden, I don;t know if she'll call it off if the weather changes for the worse. I know we can sit inside but her husband was shielded after major surgery and she may not want folks in the house.TA, I did all the windows last week after a visit from the window cleaner, it's a job I dislike, but I did all the insides. There's ironing, as always, I'm always nattering on about my ironing. If I did it as much as talked about it there wouldn't be any!Good luck with your Italian Taff, John's dog and his sister's cat made me laugh.Hope you all have a good day folks, take care16

Morning All
No sunshine here but the cloud is high so hopeful for a dry day. Yesterday got very hot so it was a slothful potter about the garden, grass cut and lots of dead heading. It seems I may have put night cream on my face yesterday instead of the moisturiser with the SPF, my face is bright red, looks like I've been dooking for chips! That, along with my poorly back and a bite under my ear makes for a sorry sight.
Today I have to collect an order from @sda (a white cardigan for older DGD) which I will then send on to DS1. It's her birthday on Saturday and she may need it over her pretty dress. Meeting up with DD and the little one, we're going out for brunch, delayed from my birthday in March, really looking forward to it.
It's the last day of my summer holiday so going to make the most of it, not looking forward to tomorrow.
Take care everyone. XX14 -
Good morning everyone, thank you for starting today's thread nmlc.
Overcast and humid here, the met office is hedging its bets on the likelihood of thunderstorms. I cut the grass yesterday and it would like some rain now. Provided it doesn't rain this morning, and I don't think it will, I will mulch the flower beds and under some shrubs. The bottom end of the garden is just solid packed earth now, it is overhung by big trees, too much shade for growing.
I want to change the bedlinen before it gets too hot. Not sure if I'll put the washer on though as I don't much fancy trying to dry big stuff inside if it does rain.
Will probably go for a walk later, not a fascinating day but heigh ho!
Hope you all have a good day.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back13 -
Morning all.
Phew! Officially it was 36.1° here yesterday. I don't know about frying an egg on the pavement, I reckon you could have fried one on my kitchen floor. The storms can't come soon enough for me.
taff, your early stages of learning Italian sounds very like the old reading primers.....See John. See Janet. John runs. Janet runs. See the dog. The dog runs............
I had neighbours called Janet and John. They were introduced to me thus, "You've read the book, now meet the stars."
Gers, I followed your link yesterday and I want that shop DOWN HERE. Ask them if they've ever thought about opening a branch in the tropical south.
It is supposed to be a tad cooler here today, but I've seen no signs of it so far. So it will be another day indoors as it is slightly cooler, if very dark, and I can pick at bits of salad and ice cream. Not together, you understand. Apart from that I don't think I'll be doing much. I'll report back if anything interesting happens.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Sometimes in life it's important to know when to stop arguing with people and simply let them be wrong.I believe that friends are quiet angels
Who lift us to our feet when our wings
Have trouble remembering how to fly.13 -
Morning all
Scorchio here again yesterday at one point the thermometer in the garden read 38, it is a sun trap in the garden though, today is pretty much the same. I have two fans going in the lounge and the floor one has a washing up bowl of cold water in front (tip from a Sicilian friend ) it is blissfully cool in here, and last night I took a cold water bottle to bed so slept better.
We went out on the bikes yesterday which is also a good way to cool off we did about 13 miles and stopped in the almost empty village pub for a cold drink on the way back it was bliss. It was so hot that I just couldn't bear the oven on, we had a Greek salad and crusty bread instead it was lovely, so I have the chicken in right now should be out by 11 before the heat gets too bad, we will have that tonight with new potatoes and salad.
This afternoon we have to go to dd's to let the photographer in from the estate agents hopefully it will not be in too much of a state, the evil ex has said he has cleaned up but I bet he hasn't !!
Have good days all and stay safe xx
