Best electric storage heaters? Alternative to Fischer

Hi money savers,
I recently bought my first flat - a 1 bed in a small block, built in early 1970s. It's all electric and the current radiators are rubbish and costly. Keen to get storage heaters as I'm on Economy 7.
I had Fischer provide a quote but they're too expensive (much expense seems to come with the customer service). I know a good electrician so could be more cost effective to order the radiators and have him fit them. Basically I'm looking for the next best thing other than Fischer.
Any advise welcome, including any info on what time of year discounts and offers might be available, or where best to buy etc.
Thank you,
Savingloulou

Fischer are NOT storage heaters.  You had a very lucky escape: even worse than being expensive to buy, they need full price daytime electricity so they are prohibitively expensive to run.
If you are out all day you need a well insulated storage heater with a fan to release the heat when it's needed in the evenings.  Dimplex Quantum is probably worth considering.  Note that they need a 24h supply and an E7 off-peak supply.
Make sure the immersion heater has an E7 off peak supply and that any Boost switch turns itself off after an hour or two.  Similarly, don't use an instantaneous electric shower, and find out (by looking at it) exactly when the meter switches over.
BTW, this is the wrong forum.  Ask the Board Guide to move it to Energy.

If you can still get them, pre-LOT20 regulation heaters will be much cheaper to buy than Quantum and similar heaters, and probably last longer too.
    3.3kW for £499. http://www.hwelectric.co.uk/classic.php
