EDF and OVO smart meter confusion
Options
Hi Everyone
I appreciate there has been another thread on this topic, but I really need advice now on what to do next. Last year, after what I deemed to be unfair price hikes from OVO after I had been with them right from the beginning, I decided to look elsewhere for energy supply. I plumped on EDF and started the process of shifting in June last year. Meter reads were provided to EDF for both utilities at the time and eventually OVO gave me back the balance of what they owed me (10 phone calls, culminating in threatening letters).
I now understand that the smart meter I had fitted by OVO many moons ago cannot be read by EDF by their own admission so there has been no meter reading to EDF since I took on the contract last July as the meter does not now accurately show "day" and "night" electricity, as I have both tariffs. I have had to also give manual gas readings, which is easier as it is just the dial to read.
My fixed contract is now at an end with EDF and I have just defaulted to the standard variable rate but given the cost of energy will be looking to shift again. How is this going to be possible if I can't read the electricity meter? I don't want to be tied into another 2 year deal with EDF by which time they will have updated the firmware on the current meter to read it. I have repeatedly asked EDF to come and fit one of their smart meters but they have refused, now using CoVid19 as an excuse. I'm by no means a Luddite with this sort of thing, but could do with some advice if someone else has had the same issue.
Thanks in advance,

Is your Elec meter one of those with a small keypad where you press 9 to get the total readingNever pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0

Ovo used Liberty Smart Meters (not sure if they still do). Pressing six on the keypad will access the readings. Check this video:Do you also have a smart gas meter? If so, does it have a numerical key pad? If so you need to press 9 and let the display scroll until you can see the m3 reading, this is the reading you give to the supplier.0

If in doubt just post a photo of the meters and people will be able to tell you exactly how to access both registers on your smart meter.

After the meter displays the IMPR01 reading are you waiting for it to scroll in order to obtain the IMPR02 read? Thankfully I don't have the Liberty Secure meter, but I know it's regarded as very user unfiendly! If you get no joy then I would suggest pressing 6 whilst you are running between the actual ec7 hours. For me that's currently 01:30 to 08:30, but it does vary depending on area and the meter. That should dispaly the IMPR02 read.

Here's a link to some instructions for Secure Liberty 100 if it helps at all (pages 8-9)

Thanks for all the help, but there is definitely no IMP R02 reading. I've been out again to check, only IMP R01. Any ideas on what to do with a faulty meter as it is impossible to read the Economy 7 in this case.0

Is there "total" reading, from which you could subtract IMP R01 to get IMP R02?
