O/S Daily Sun 9 August 2020
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Cloudy overcast start to the day again, but sky may well clear.
DH watching catchup tv, I'm enjoying first cuppa whilst on here, DS1 still in his pit. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was mixed herbs chicken, veg rice and mushrooms with noodles. Today we're having roast beef etc. I'll do some prep for the pack ups too.
We're going to have a quick ride over to see DH's grandad this morning to see how he's going - we think he may have told the carers he doesn't want them but hasn't told the family that! So we're going early to either see if they are there or arrive whilst we're there, if no-one arrives whilst we're there then DH will ask where they are. We'll be taking some fresh toms and a cucumber as everything is ripening at the same time.
Work was quiet yesterday but back in tomorrow - we're training on some new technology.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning, and thanks for the start NMLC - hope Grandad is ok.It's fine-ish here, and mild. We don't get the temperatures here that they do down south, last night was quite cool. We'll go out for a walk today, we want to keep up the habit. DH will take a break from the back fence, it's taking longer than he thought, though he's painting it as well, a nice mid brown.I went out shopping yesterday, didn't need much, all the shops were quite busy though. It's such a change from a few months ago when there was hardly a soul be to be seen. Sadly, not all the shops have reopened, there's a newsagent still closed, and one of the cafes.Anyway, I'll stop waffling and hope everyone has a good day - take care folks15

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. I hope you find Grandad is behaving himself and not sacking his carers after all.
I was on a right downer yesterday so I promise I will not be so miserable today, despite the fact there is no sun! We have a day of cloud but warm temps in store. Yesterday got a bit too hot for sitting in and I was in and out like Jocky and Jinny. I need to go out and hose the pots at the back at some point, they do dry out quickly this weather. Sod's law we will have a downpour as soon as I have finished.
Excitement of the day for me is a Tesco delivery between 9 and 10. I'd better get myself moving shortly as I'm still sat slobbing in my dressing gown. It seems an expensive order this time but a big bag of Catsan and large box of dw tabs have bumped the price up a lot. Fruit and veg stocks were looking very low so lots ordered and it will be nice to get the bowl and veg basket stocked up again.
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all in need of them. Take care all and stay safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"14 -
Morning All,
Thanks for starting us off nmlc. I kept sitting outside in the garden yesterday enjoying the sunshine. It was so lovely and warm we ate lunch and tea outside.
Today feels very close and at present cloudy although sun is due by midday. Today will actually do a bit gardening. WM finished will hang out in a bit. Need to pop to N/home to take some money in as they are restarting Hairdressing and chiropody services.
Had a lovely facetime yesterday with my DD for her birthday.

Morning
Gorgeous start to the day again its looking like another outdoor day for me
Have a couple of horrible jobs to do first like cleaning the shower trap.. eugh and tackle the shower screen
Yesterdays fish platter was gorgeous. The smoked mackerel pack had 4 largish fillets so I used 2 for some mackerel pate which was delicious and there's enough for lunches for the week. I went back to 70s and made a pile of melba toast
Today is chicken gyros for dinner
Have a good Sunday all

Morning All
It's a beautiful sunny morning and I've just had my breakfast outside, such a treat. Washing is out and should be dry very soon.
I had a lovely time at DS1's, the DGC were a joy and yesterday's visit to the farm park was really good. Not too many people as you had to book but enough that the children found friends at the playpark and had a thoroughly good time although it was quite hot. I decided to come back last night as it was a lovely evening and was DS1's last night with the children for the holidays, they were having a BBQ and then a movie night.
When I got home my friends from across the road were watering my garden, such good friends. I must do some dead heading this morning but apart from that I think it will be a day of pottering about and sitting in the sun.
Enjoy Sunday, take care. XX11 -
Morning folks.Yesterday was a gorgeous day, bright sun right up to dusk. I sat with a friend in his garden and chatted for a while. Then I decided to drive around looking at places and buildings I'd not been to before - yes, I know it's a tad weird. 😛 The one building I really wanted to see was missed as it would have meant driving through the tunnel and it was closed for an accident. The A listed building has a subway station underneath it. Today I may just take the subway there instead. On my travels I came across a lovely stationery shop with a difference, no ditzy floral prints or flowery cards, all very 'alternative' with very funny, sometimes funny and rude, messages. I laughed and gasped my way round the small shop, am going back today as I forgot to pick up a pen from the counter after I bought it. Good excuse, yes?The weather isn't as grand as yesterday, there's a significant breeze in the trees. We have a yellow weather warning for Monday and Tuesday so I'll get out and about today.I hope that everyone enjoys their day. Happy Sunday to all.12

Good morning and thanks for starting us off nmlc.
Overcast so far and much cooler than yesterday so far. My washing is on the line and I should be able to do more in the garden today, yesterday was a bit hot for doing stuff. I went for a walk and foraged some more fallen bark, that was pleasant as it was in the shade. Might do the same today. I think my pansies, which eventually went all leggy and got moved to the compost bin, have self seeded, hope so as they are a favourite, so I'm watching them.
Not much happening here apart from lots of wildlife in the garden. Plus two cats yelling at each other.
Hope everyone has a good day.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back11 -
Morning all.
I've peeped out this morning and it is relentless sun again. I think the temperature is due to shoot into the stratosphere today. I have gone into mole-mood.
nmlc, the words 'new technology' make my blood run cold, even in this heat. Good Luck.
TA, sorry you have been feeling down. I suppose it is bound to happen, but glad you feel a tad better today.
ILC and AOD, good luck with the gardening. Here you would need a pneumatic drill to weed flower beds the ground is so hard and dry.
Nelski, my heart goes out to you. Cleaning the shower trap is at the very top of my most-detested jobs. Yuk, yuk, and treble yuk.
Camelot, enjoy sitting in the sun. Here it is only the tourists who behave in such a mad way. We residents are hiding ourselves away in whatever bit of shade we can find.
Oh Gers......I have severe stationery envy. I'm a sucker for stationery. If I live to be 200 I'll never get through all my paper, pens, exercise books, files etc. Don't let me anywhere near that shop.
No plans for today. Just how I like it.
THOUGHT FOR SUNDAY
Lord, I don't know what you are baking out there, but it's done.I believe that friends are quiet angels

Morning all
Another bright sunny day here its been glorious this weekend although yesterday was far too hot really, we sat in the garden for dinner and although we had the brolly up we were still too hot with bits of us still in the sun so I got some towels which were dry on the line and pegged them around the 'skirt' of the parasol it worked really well and kept us in the shade.
Onto today we shall probably go out on our bikes it sounds daft in this heat but we went to the shop yesterday on them and it was really cool as you get the breeze as you are cycling along.
Not sure about dinner but might just do some jacket spuds and have salad and ham with them so no effort really.
Will get the pups out later when its cooled down a bit.
Have good days all and stay safe xx9
