So to try to help me understand...
    - If I were on HB right now (with SDP),
    - I then move after Jan 21 within the same authority that I was getting HB to begin with
    - This move made after the Jan 21 I would make a new or transfer details of the other HB application for, and it would not need a UC application?

    That's correct.

I had assumed I needed to move before Jan 2021 to avoid having to make a UC claim (as SDP will apply to me).

If you're not claiming the SDP at the moment and you move before Jan 2021 then you'll need to claim the SDP before you can claim housing benefit.
If you move after jan 2021 then you'll need to claim UC when you move, regardless of what local authority it is.
Thanks poppy, I missed that crucial word ‘will’.
Yes I checked you can claim that bit first and allow the HB application to go in after.

If it’s supported accommodation it would be covered by HB not UC anyway.
Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.

My Saturday Nights got middle aged a long time ago....but reading that was a dopamine hit worthy of a different time.

Just to quickly add... I got a release of the paperwork surrounding my last WCA... and it included things like the HCPs evading decisions, discussion about suitability for face to face, the ESA85 assessment report as well as the Decision Maker's paperwork. Assuming they still have yours then you could try same as it will fully explain the hows and why of the decision.

P.S. If you call ESA... prepare for a long wait in the queue... almost 2 hours for me last. That has put me off querying why I've bizarrely just been sent notification of an award of I-R ESA having had it cancelled following a U/C claim.

  • Should I just ask for the last WCA, or for other things as well?

I would give them a date range and ask for anything to do with your WCA/decision to move you to support group. Hopefully that'll cover it
