Can anyone recommend an account for a 14 year old that has a debit card that you can use to make payments with?
Currently has card at abbey, but only cash card for use at cashpoints, and many friends of that age have cards that they can use to pay in shops...

  • Barclays do a Visa Connect (Debit) with a great interest rate. But it doesnt have online banking.

HSBC do a Solo Card, but with no interest. But it is linked to a savings account online.

    I prefer Barclays.
Hi, I've already asked and been granted for permission via PM for a Help for Heroes link. Pfft.

As my previous signature said, I support Help for Heroes

I would suggest HSBC who will give you a debit card and the interest rate in their associated savings account is the same or higher than Barclays (depending on balance)

For accounts which come just with Cash Cards, I suspect you will find Nationwide pay more interest than Abbey.

Clydesdale/Yorkshire Bank's Cybersave has a good interest rate (around 5%)
It comes with dual function Cashpoint/Maestro card.

Nationwide's rate is better, but only comes with a Cashpoint card.

I guess it also depends if you are close to a branch of either bank.
