Cheapest kitchen units???

Hey guys, I up near Newcastle, I need to buy a kitchen, I wondered if you have opinions on where to get the best priced units?  I will need 5/6 cabinets / worktop, so a small setup.

I am aware of the usual outfits, Howdens, b&q, Wickes, IKEA, are there any online firms with great prices? If Amazon did a kitchen I'd buy it! 😂

    Ikea.

Units with Haggeby doors at Ikea.  And they're not bad at all.

They're also on offer until tomorrow, so get a move on!

DIY Kitchens are fully assembled units and an online supply only company. Great prices too.
You can order samples if required. They also have an online kitchen 3D planner. I bought mine from them a month ago.

Have you had them installed as yet?

I ask because I know there is a one month lead-in time and whilst most kitchens look great its only when it comes to delivery and installation that a service is really tested. I'm quite keen on getting a DIY kitchen myself so am interested in hearing your experience.

I get the impression that the OP might be in a hurry so Ikea could be the fastest inexpensive option.

We have all the units in. But as we are DIY'ers, not finished the whole project due to time constraints.

My diy kitchen is installed. It looks good, its solid.
I did have lots and lots of issues with delivery of appliances but I see they have taken these off sale due to supply problems.
This really tested my patience, numerous phone calls on hold for 40 mins a time and various emails backwards and forwards. Being promised things would turn up that day and then  not.  In the end I had 5 separate deliveries.

I ordered some slimline base units, I had issues here, the holes for the shelves were too far apart, meaning my kitchen fitter had to drill new ones. These units also had drawers and there were numerous holes where the runners should have been fitted, and looked like a few attempts to get it right.
The very experienced fitter did suggest the name said it all, it's for diyers not professional fitters.
In hindsight I would have asked the fitter to supply and fit from howdens as they would have pricematched for him.
Anyway it's in and looks good. If it's only units you want to buy from them, then it may well be ok.

Thanks, this is a very helpful post.

Re: appliances - I take it these were integrated and not freestanding? I'm going for freestanding where possible - FF, WM, dryer and microwave - but I had also assumed that integrated cookers, ovens sinks etc could be shopped around for because the DIY kitchen units are made to measure?

Sorry OP for hijacking your thread!

Issues were with both, I bought them from diy because  I thought I didnt want numerous deliveries and their prices were competitive, with a discount when purchasing 3 or more.
    The appliances are available elsewhere.
I didn't need a washing machine or tumble dryer. These are already in the utility room. So an American fridge freezer, built in oven, built in microwave, hob, extractor fan, integrated dishwasher.

I have all integrated appliances in my DIY kitchen, but all of them were independently sourced. There are a couple of standard sizes for oven housings, but you can choose your configuration of cupboards/drawers under and over the appliance - I have 2 pan drawers under the oven and a cupboard with 2 shelves on top. The only problem I had with a 900 sink unit was that the wire basket in the top drawer wouldn't accommodate the waste pipes for my preferred 1 and a half bowl sink. My fitter cut a section out of one side of the wire, so I lost a bit of storage there. I had one drawer front missing from the original delivery, which was noticed and dispatched to me before I even realised it was missing - it was a bespoke unusual colour  so it obviously stood out on the factory floor! The corner unit  arrived as a dry fit unit, meaning it could be deconstructed to get it into the kitchen (it's huge), and my fitter broke a component of the carousel. This was on 20th Dec. I emailed a picture of the broken piece to DIY and a replacement arrived the first week in Jan. I think the problems I encountered could have happened with any supplier and the ticket system for raising issues with DIY worked efficiently for me .I think my entire kitchen, with appliances, worktop and fitting came in at about £6k - Magnet and Benchmarx quoted £9k without appliances and fitting.

Wow! Magnet has quoted me the best part of £30k for kitchen and utility before fitting, but that does include a whopper of a quartz island counter. Seems as though the savings I could make are substantial if I do my homework!
