Possible Quarantine from France

Hi, I have read that the 14 day Quarantine requirement with people returning from Belgium does not apply if you have only transited through Belgium by car & have not stopped and left the vehicle.
Would the same rules apply if France is added to the non exempted countries if the driver travels to the UK by Eurotunnel? I realise if travelling by ferry the driver will be mixing with other people but this can be avoided by using the tunnel

You will have to wait until quarantine comes in to find out the rules. It's pointless any of us second guessing what will be done.

Much easier to transit through Belgium than through France. You would generally have a long drive to a channel port. Where would you be driving from?

Hi, I’m driving from Warsaw, my car does 650 miles per tank. I was worried about Belgium being on the list & I looked at driving south to avoid Belgium/Luxembourg, but hearing about the exemption for drivers who do not stop in Belgium, I wondered if the same could apply for France.
  • There are much more crossings from Calais/Dunkerque and that is why we cross there rather than getting the ferry to Holland. Obviously a ferry from Belgium would mean the 14 days quarantine which I want to avoid.
i have actually booked some flights to Katowice as a emergency reserve, but we want to use the car as we have a lot of things to take/bring back & the car hire for 20 days is +£350.

I I don’t think anyone can tell you for sure. I’d have thought you would be counted as ‘coming from’ the country you embark in, rather than transiting through it. If a ferry from Belgium means you haven’t transited through it and need to quarantine, I’d have thought a tunnel from France would do the same.

Hi, when travelling on a ferry the passengers will leave the car & mix with other passengers. When travelling on Eurotunnel it should be possible to stay in the car & social distance with the other passengers which is not possible on the ferry.
I will try & call Eurotunnel but I’ve never managed to get through at weekend.
    Thanks

Hi, it has been stated in the press that quarantine can be avoided if you are only transiting through France/Belgium from a Non-Quarantine country & you are travelling on the Eurotunnel. This does not apply if you are travelling on the ferry.
So my question has been answered by The Independent & The Guardian.
    Thanks
