This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH watching catchup tv, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge as I'm working this morning, DS1 still in his pit and DS2 settled and happy.
Cloudy overcast start to the day with quite a blustery wind, the air does feel cooler at the moment although is forecast to be hotter than yesterday - it was very hot all day - we'll see. I did get some washing line dried and have the last lot ready to peg out in a mo when I water the garden and greenhouse.
Dinner last night was breaded chicken and chips, coleslaw/beans for the menfolk. I had fishcakes and salad. Not sure what we will be eating tonight, but have plenty in so can choose later.
I did get everything I wanted done, so will be able to chill a bit this afternoon and tomorrow.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning and thank you for starting today's thread nmlc.
Yesterday was scorchio here, with two very brief bursts of rain but I still got 3 wash loads dry.
Totally clear skies here now. I'm quite tired, after such a hot day I thought I would sleep well but I kept waking and eventually got fed up and came downstairs.
I have lots of things to do but whether I actually muster the oomph to do them is anyone's guess, nothing essential though.
I think I could do with a visit to Nelski's spa today!
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back13 -
AOD Ill send the house limo to pick you up
Another night too hot to sleep here I think when Im rich and famous the first thing will be air conditioning. Loving the day time weather though Seems this weather is here till Tuesday so my nightly bouts with the duvet continue.
Asda due with the weeks essentials ....lots of salad today. Dinner will be a seafood platter with salad and part baked baguette I have smoked mackerel, smoked salmon, some prawns for a prawn cocktail and a trout pate. Love a picky meal
Have a good day all

Morning folks - it's already hotter than yesterday. As it was I had a long wait for the GP. Coming 'after lunch' turned out to be 7.30p.m 😒 it was a lot of hanging around, however it was good that she came. DM decided to show off and did much better walking for her than for me (straighter and close to the zimmer) and also got up off the swivel chair by herself! I was both impressed, surprised and cheesed off as I know she won't do it again! My laptop gave me a scare yesterday when it wouldn't turn on. When I had a quick check I saw that the charger cable had become loose. Once it was charged again all was well. The scare prompted me to use DM's laptop and sync it to mine. I had made a backup of documents the day before so that was OK. Not a good start to the day. Today is better. Now I'm doing the Saturday shop. Hugs to those who can use one. And a happy Saturday to everyone.11

Morning All,
Lovely Hot Sunny day. Yesterday attempt at being one resulted in cloud and one downpour of rain. I have the second load of washing in the w/m. I will be enjoying the garden today, by sitting in it.
It is my DD birthday today not seen her since March , due to distance . Will be ringing her later.
Enjoy the sun

unexpected visit from an old friend yesterday which really cheered me up. Tesco shop arrived nice and early so some cooking is on the cards later today. still plodding on with the Duolingo on line French course, getting harder now and I am making lots of mistakes but still enjoying it. Still sunny here so will probably need to do some watering later. I see I have 2runner beans almost ready!
Have a good day everyone10 -
Morning folks and thanks for starting us off nmlc.Back from caravan hols and really enjoyed it. Weather was lovely and warm apart from one day of rain. I just sat about and read that day 😁. He starts on Wednesday and is very excited.I-love-comps, hope your DDhas a lovely birthday. It’s hard when you haven’t seen them fir a while. I last saw my DS in early March.Gers, good that your DM was able to show the GP what she can do. You do so well with taking such good care of her.Take care all - slap on the suncream!

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. I was all plans to get the 8.45 bus into town but by the time I had got changed into something decent and dragged the hot brush through my wayward hair I was already in a hot sweat and the thought of sitting on a hot bus and trailing round in a mask didn't hold much appeal. So up to get changed back into my scruff and yet another day in isolation which is starting to affect me badly now. The local restrictions are to remain in place.and will be reviewed again in a week's time. Apparently people sitting in other people's gardens is to blame for the spike. Personally I would have blamed all the folk rammed on the beaches and overflowing from the pubs but what do I know?!
DD and the girls have gone to the 'van for the w/e. It was youngest DGD's birthday Thursday and it's eldest's on Tuesday so, as a treat, DD has booked a llama trek into the beautiful Nidderdale countryside for this afternoon. Followed by tea at the Pancake House in Pateley. It sounds a lovely day in store for them.
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all in need of them. Stay safe x

Good morning, warm and sunny here.I haven't posted for a few days because of IT problems, all sorted now though. Not a lot happening today, DH is doing essential maintenance on the backyard fence, and I'll just be doing stuff about the house. There's ironing to do but don't know if I can face it in this heat.Hope everyone is all right anyway, and have a good Saturday all.Take care folks10

Morning all heatwave survivors.
Poppy, I am full of admiration for you learning French. Languages aren't my thing. I failed O level miserably. Partly due to the fact that I misread the question and wrote an essay on 'my nightdress', (weird subject) and didn't discover until comparing notes afterwards that it should have been 'my nightmare.' And the other partly was the Oral where the examiner handed me a picture postcard of an oasis with 2 Palm trees and 2 camels. Even if I'd had the vocabulary, which I didn't, there wasn't much to say about it. I managed to burble about the'little sea' and the sandhorses and gave up.
It was the same with Greek, although I can still recite the Greek alphabet which gives an entirely false impression of my scholarly abilities.
I'm planning nothing today, although I've just had a phone call to say that DS2, DIL and DGD are on their way up to see me.
Yikes! I'd better have a quick clear round.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Not only does my mind wander.......sometimes it goes off completely.I believe that friends are quiet angels
Who lift us to our feet when our wings
Have trouble remembering how to fly.11 -
Morning all
Scorchio here already, yesterday the temp here got up to 33 degwe took the dogs to the woods which was a bit cooler and had a shorter walk which ended at the pond both dogs jumped right in and had a lovely 1/2 hr splashing round, it must have been bliss for them.
I have a towel wash on the go they should dry in a flash today and another load to go in after. The house will need a clean today but with three of us is shouldn't take too long.
My sister and her OH might be coming for a bbq tonight so will need to get some bits for that, they are veggie so will do some mozzarella stuffed corgette with herbs. coleslaw and salad alongside the meat and veggi sausages. Although Nels I will be at the spa later and would love to stay for dinner it sounds lush and I too love a picky meal - my favourite.
Right better get on have good days all xx10
