House Deeds

We are in the lucky position to have paid off our mortgage.  I only have a copy of our deeds.  from something someone said, do we need to have the original deeds if we decide to sell?  We are on the land registry as the owners.

    Then the Deeds (original or copies) are of historical/personal interest only.

    If registered at the Land Registry, to sell you do not need the original deeds as the solicitors and mortgage companies are only interested with the "electronic" version.  However, the Land Registry version of Title Deeds sometimes do not have all of the clauses of the original deeds transcribed across.  If you have a copy of the complete original deeds and plan then great, so not necessarily require the original, original copies.  There can be clauses that are significant to the land owner that may not be in the electronic copy as well as the original plan can show other details.  Therefore, when you sell, just leave the copy for the new owner. So they can be more that just of historical interest.
