Rattled a few feathers with my house buyers solicitor?

So we’re currently in the painstaking process of selling our house, my buyers solicitors don’t appear to be lifting their feet off the ground at a faster pace than we’d like which is delaying the process waiting for the usual “search enquiries” is which I’ve now learnt is the biggest delay.

ive been in small talk with the buyer for measurements in the house and she’s been checking in on where she is her end with selling her house.

The buyers solicitors have requested documents from my current house from the council eg planning permission etc.
These were sent two weeks ago, but they’re stating they’ve yet to have them!
Obviously this puts a delay on things so I’ve emailed these documents (easily requested from the council) over to the buyer so that she can email the person she is directly dealing with.
(Bit of leg work)

her solicitors have now contacted mine requesting that I do not contact the buyer or themselves!

Have I done something wrong here?
All we are trying to do is speed up the process, it’s not like I’ve sent her searches / deeds etc

You'll get better advice (and comments on real world experience) over on the House Buying, Renting & Selling board.

They won't unless you ask them to.

PS - we don't have mods here. We have board guides (the closest thing to mods but without the usual powers of mods) and the forum admin team. A board guide can move threads. I'm not sure who looks after this board (the old forum theme used to show us) - perhaps send a PM to @soolin?

I thin it is cages not feathers that are rattled. Feathers may be ruffled?

The buyers solicitors don't care if you're frustrated by progress, you're not their client. And they'll ignore any enquiry documents you send.
Nothing to stop you talking to the buyer yourself. If she starts to get frustrated by delays, that's when her solicitors will start listening.

The correct communication route is for you to talk to your solicitor who talk to the next solicitors who talk to the buyer.  However onerous that seems, bypassing any of these routes will ultimately cause delay and confusion.

Your paying your solicitors for legal advice so take their advice. Certainly the normal route is through the respective solicitors but two consenting adults can talk to each other directly if they want... dont bother talking to their solicitors though as they clearly aren't consenting.

The buyer's solicitor seems to have taken the hump about receiving documents from their client, documents which they should be sourcing but are taking their time about - in fact it seems they already have them but are ignoring them for a while. They're complaining because the seller sent them to the buyer (2 adults talking) and then their client sent them to them. If they're getting shirty with anyone it should be their client, not the party the client has been talking with.
