Need new online shopping provider

Hi

We have just moved house and can no longer use our go to provider which was Morrison’s. I wouldn’t mind going to Ocado for a bit if there is a good sign up offer. They tend to have paper copy leaflets knocking around with 12 months smart pass and a good whack off your first few shops. Not seen them for a while though and their website offer of 3 months and £5 off isn’t great in comparison. Though appreciate they’re probably swamped with customers so it’s not really a priority for them.

What do others tend to recommend for suppliers? I was a bit put off by other companies hygiene ratings after watching an investigation on them so hopefully that’s improved.

Thanks in advance for the advice.

Its all area dependant so unless we know what supermarkets you have near you, there is no way of knowing.
    Asda
    Tesco
    Sainsburys
    Ocado
    Waitrose
    Amazon Fresh
    Iceland

Ocado have suspended all new sign up money off vouchers - as you'd expect. Online shopping isn't screaming out for new customers right now - so you'll likely get somewhere between zero offers and very low offers. Probably best to research who does deliver to your post code - and then picking the most suitable based on your shopping habits.

Iceland does online shop offers but as is the case with most, some are not ones you'd really want, but hey ho you never know

Its basically everyone except for Morrison’s it would seem.

I’ve tried Tesco in the past and they weren’t great. The delivery driver wasn’t interested and didn’t seem to care either. Whereas Morrison’s were really good (when they used Ocado drivers). Less so when they used their own.

As a general rule I think there is more variation between the service that each supermarket provides in different areas, than between the supermarkets themselves.  So really you'll need to try one and, if you're not satisfied, try another instead.

My personal preference is Ocado because they have by far the biggest range of products and you get almost all of what you actually order.  I tried Sainsbury's a couple of times and literally 40% of the orders were substitutions, so it wasn't worth it - but people in other areas have had great experiences with them.

Someone on here kindly pointed out there were two Morrisons online services. One which was basically available if you had a store nearby and another where goods came from a central warehouse. I don't have a Morrisons close to me but they do deliver to my area https://accounts.groceries.morrisons.com/auth-service/sso/check-postcode   have you checked with your new address?

Ocado and Waitrose...are they the same dependent on where you live. Im in Glasgow and have Waitrose but no Ocado.
As for Tesco Ive decided to stop using them.....I use them,Sainsburys.Morrisons,Iceland and Asda and usually pick cheap slots..but Tesco have ,for reasons best known to themselves, adopted the unusual business model of making every delivery slot £4.50 and to me that is not only too expensive but a really stupid idea.

Ocado were stocking Waitrose products but the delivery service was different. That deal is about to be replaced by marks and Spencer’s food.

Morrison’s don’t deliver to me but a van drove past my house. Makes no sense.

I’m giving amazon a go as they do Morrison’s food. So will see how that goes. Think I’ll probably use a cheaper service until I find an Ocado voucher for 12 months sign up.

Does seem odd from Tesco to do that.

Good point. I hadn’t considered that. We tried Waitrose at our old property (pre covid) and had a ridiculous amount of subs too.
  • I''ve recently had an Iceland home delivery and the experience was very good with only 1 item unavailable. Free delivery over £40 and a £5 discount for me. I know you cant do your whole shop with them but you should be able to get most of it and the prices are OK.
