DVD repair kits?

Do they exist & if so can you recommend one? My daughter has been playing with her Baby Einstein DVDs & has managed to scratch a couple & now they won't play. Can they be saved?

Thanks

I'm not sure this will be much help but some DVD players are much fussier than others about tolerating scratches and the like. If all else fails you could try a different one..

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
try this, one fills in scratches and the other put a protective layer on the disc, you could also get this which does the same job and i have seen it for sale in Virgin megastores and HMV.
Sometimes i surprise myself by being right.

    hi,

i regularly use a a program called DVD X Rescue. Takes a while, but what it does i believe is scan the disc first looking for errors and then, unlike a dvd player that will either freeze or skip on to the next part it can read, actually slows the disc and reads it frame by frame, when it's done it just writes a new disc for you, and as you're making a back up copy for your personal use, and you own the original, there's no copyright infringrement!

It was made by the now defunct 321 Studio's who went bankrupt fighting the fair use campaign - shame really.......

you may be able to find a copy from the new distributor who i think are here http://www.nycsoftware.com/DVDxCopy/support/faq/support.asp.44.html and this should answer any questions.

one last thing, in effect what the program used to do was to rip the movie from the original disc - this was where 321 fell down, so it could be that the new company have messed about with the code and removed the ripper - dunno til you try!
