What benefit is there to do that ?
Presumably we'll find out when the prospectus is released. They take a fee from each investment in a wind farm and presumably if there is a surplus this will go to the shareholders. However I'm guessing their argument would be that they wouldn't function without crowdfunding and that investing in them is supporting renewable energy.

Is that a reservation? I don't think any details about project 3 have been released yet. But there havebeen suggestions that it might be a solar farm.
It may be that they have forgotten to revise the document but the reservation policy terms clearly state that the reservation is for a stake a wind farm. "I understand that today I am adding £25 into my Ripple account towards future wattage payments and reserving up to the amount of Ripple’s next wind farm...."
I feel sure that when I made my reservation for project 3, there was a tick box to say that I understand that the next project might be a solar farm. (There were a lot of tick boxes). But I can't find that. Perhaps the wording has changed with time?

The Seedrs campaign is different to project 3. I am guessing that project 3 will be bigger than project 2 and therefore Ripple (as the facilitator) will need more people to set up the third coop. So they are crowd funding to raise the money to grow the private company that is Ripple. The Seedrs paperwork goes into quite a bit of detail about the risks involved with backing the companies on there - in fact you have to pass a "test" to demonstrate you've understood the risks and potential returns (or lack thereof) before you're allowed to invest.

This brief conversation has a helpful overview of Seedrs. I think it helps explain what Ripple are doing.

It's a pity that you are left having to guess.  A company with more conventional finances might issue and sell more shares in order to raise funds (e.g. a "rights issue") but this would never happen without an explicit justification.

It's not actually launched on Seedrs yet, so we've only had trailer esque information. I am expecting more when the Seedrs campaign is actually launched.

Edit to add: issuing and selling more shares is exactly what they are doing on Seedrs. Which is an investment platform for start ups and early days entrepreneurs. Ripple just isn't grown up enough yet to be listed as public stocks.

The message you get when you tap the seedrs link refers to wind farm or solar park,  does that pretty much confirm project 3 will be solar?

Ripple sent out a September newsletter to members.
It included this statement (in the context of high energy prices):
The payback period for Ripple members could tumble from 14 years to less than half of that. Members of our first project, Graig Fatha, may even see payback periods of less than 4 years. We’ve also seen reservations to own a piece of Project 3 jump to 5,780, with over 1,000 people joining in the last week alone.
Sounds promising for the WT1 members, hopefully Kirk Hill gets built and commissioned on schedule!

Has there been any further update on how this is counted by HMRC yet? Thinking of investing but would like to understand what tax I would have to pay.
