With a heat pump and an EV or two, you probably would be eligible for £10k's worth.

    Yes, good point

It would make it more transparent if you could just but whatever share you want of the turbine and they just paid the "savings" directly into your bank account. Linking it to your energy provider and energy bill, just confuses things.

It seems linking it to personal use was a requirement imposed by the FCA to enable Ripple to use a co-op vehicle. Opening it up to any level of purchase would equate to offering an investment product, which they evidently didn't want to do.

I might've got a bit creative with my predicted consumption. If gas prices stay high I intend to use off-peak electricity to heat water which will add a fair few kWh to my historical numbers, and I'm thinking of buying a plugin EV before Kirk Hill comes online (possibly as soon as this summer) ...
    N. Hampshire, he/him. Octopus Intelligent Go elec & Tracker gas / Vodafone BB / iD mobile. Ripple Kirk Hill member.
    2.72kWp PV facing SSW installed Jan 2012. 11 x 247w panels, 3.6kw inverter. 34 MWh generated, long-term average 2.6 Os.
Not exactly back from my break, but dipping in and out of the forum.

Ooo, that would mean that the operating costs would be higher, if they have to service the 'mortgage', which is not ideal, as this will reduce our margins, but suppose its better than cancelling the whole exercise

The last sentence states "To confirm this would not effect your share credits". In fact Turbine one wasn't fully sold out yet the returns were unaffected...well apart from subsequently due to other circumstances in a positive way!

I thought the Welsh government took up the slack in the first project so it was fully funded? I'm presuming they became members of the co-op but haven't read any details.

The only way I can see that being true is if they're saying Ripple would borrow the money and lend it free of charge to the co-op. Ripple presumably wouldn't want to invest as such. Not sure.

As I recall the payment to co-op members worked out about 7.5% year. If the mortgage rate is less than that (plus the share of ongoing maintenance costs) then they are quids in (?)
