Can I claim new JSA?

Hiya,
I was made redundant from my main job at the end of July and now have my P45. I do have another self-employed job on the side where my monthly income varies from a few hundred pounds to £1000+. I work on this job for less than 16 hours a week. I also have way over £16,000 in cash savings (so won't be eligible for income-based JSA)
Would this self-employed income make me ineligible for the New JSA?
Thanks

Although it does state that you can work less than 16 hours per week and still claim New style JSA, unfortunately you will only be able to earn £5 per week before your JSA will be reduced £1 for £1. On those earnings your JSA will be reduced to zero.Look at claiming Universal Credit, whether you'll be entitled to anything will depend on your circumstances. Savings/capital of £16,000 and over will exclude you from claiming. A claim for UC will end any tax credits you may already be claiming and you will never be able to go back.Use a benefits calculator to check entitlement.1

Thanks for letting me know that. You've just saved me 20 minutes completing the online application.poppy12345 said:Although it does state that you can work less than 16 hours per week and still claim New style JSA, unfortunately you will only be able to earn £5 per week before your JSA will be reduced £1 for £1.
