VW/SEAT Financial Services - Service Plan: Cancellation Warning.

Regarding the SEAT CUPRA Ateca and VW service plan

"I was unfortunate that my car was stolen recently by house break-in; the car had a service plan with about 1 year's worth of money in the account. I asked VW financial services to cancel, giving the reason for the cancellation, and refund the cash in my account; I was informed NO REFUNDS are given.

I am somewhat shocked as in this case, it is hardly my fault for cancelling. In the past, I have cancelled service plans for my or my families cars with other manufacturers, (Ford, Toyota, Lexus) - all money (except a nominal fee e.g. £20) was refunded, no questions asked.

I have had 3 Audi’s (A4 & 2x A6) and 2 Seats, including this stolen one; needless to say, and following this experience, I will NEVER buy a VW group car again. In this age when there are no poor cars on the market, customer care becomes a differentiator and looking at TrustPilot and other review sites I can see VWFS are found lacking in most departments."

This is most of the letter I have sent to VWFS, but following my Audi experiences in the past I am expecting to be either ignored or given the polite "Tough Luck" reply.

I mean what I say - that was the last VW group car I will buy as it's not the first time I have had bad service from them so it seems to be common - not what would be expected from a perceived reputable mega-brand.

Be cautious on getting a service plan folks as in my case I had no intention of changing cars before the plan expired, but someone else decided for me. I am very lucky that I can absorb the loss but not everyone is as fortunate as I am, but still, losing £300 by no fault of my own particularly from VW of all companies is unbelievable. Remember, if your financial or personal circumstances change mid-term of a service plan, you will lose any money in the account.
