Credit card missed payment

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone could help. I have a credit card where I have recently had a missed payment which in part is my own fault but worried about the impact this will have on my credit rating.
Last month I made a more than adequate payment on my credit card 2 days before my statement was due. I was always under the impression that as long as it is paid within the previous month you were fine but apparently this is not the case and the payment needs to be made once your statement has come through.
Does anyone have any idea if anything can be done about this? I don't want it to effect my credit rating ideally. I have already contacted them and they have told me that they cannot remove the missed payment because of policies.
Any help would be appreciated.

Make the payment ASAP.
The late payment marker sounds correct so don't believe it will be removed.
Get a direct debit setup to pay the minimum amount (ideally the full amount)

As above, pay the balance ASAP. Set up a direct debit for the minimum payment at the bare minimum (preferably in set to pay in full) to avoid this happening again. If you get in touch with your bank and ask them nicely to remove it they might do so as a gesture of goodwill but remember they are under no obligation to do so.
The key issue here is that you seem to misunderstand how CC statements work. Your recent statement is for a set spending period, it doesn't necessarily have to be the calendar month. I'd avoid making any payments until your statement is generated and make sure any payment required is paid by the statement due date. You can ask your bank to set this to change this to one that's more convenient (eg. to coincide around pay day, etc) if you want, but keep in mind of the date on your statement. Weekends and bank holidays can also mean you miss your statement date if you're paying manually. The take home message should be to keep an eye on your statement date and make sure you pay your balance with plenty of time to spare in case something goes wrong.

... and bear in mind with some providers it takes a few (working) days for the payment to reach your account (weekends don't count), so make sure you make any payments at least a couple of days before the Due date (but after the statement date). If your payment is due on a Monday, you'll want to make the payment on the previous Wednesday to be safe (Thursday if you want to live life on the edge).
