Being made to struggle at no fault of your own

Seven years ago we had windows put in, after two years with no help from them, we took them to court. Our windows cost £4,000 i was made to pay solicitors fees which finely amounted to nearly £18,000. five years after this court fight started we finely won our case back in March 2020 they was advised to pay all fees and cost of windows. by 31st March. they have taken advantage of lock down and have still not paid. i have loan after loan after loan and cards to pay for all this and have been struggling to keep up the payments which are just under £2,000 a month. i am a Nurse and have been working through this lock down but can not pay this anymore. There pay out will not cover everything due to interest and i feel i just need to go bankrupt or something to just stop worrying about it. Any Advice would be nice.

You say 'we' and also say the debt is 'yours' but also refer to having windows put in, so I'm assuming you mean you and a partner and you own your own home? If so, you don't really want to be going bankrupt.
Please complete a statement of affairs, that way the members can talk through potential options.
There are always options @unlucky4me and you have taken a positive first step asking for help.

What have you done so far to recover the money you are due?0

Who exactly is 'they? The company that installed your windows? I find it very hard to understand your post: please stick to the facts. You being a nurse has no bearing on the legalities.
What was your claim for? If you have obtained judgement against them and they have not paid, then you need to instruct bailiffs to recover the amount due. Hopefully they company is still trading. No free lunch, and no free laptop1 -
It isn't clear why you are owed money. Who are "them"? What help were you supposed to get that you did not?!0

You need to set out the facts more clearly, you’ve not said what happened here.
You had some windows installed, paid for them, then what?0 -
Surely it didnt need so much spent on solicitors, just use small claims court or had you done that process.0

Hi John
Windows fitted looked lovely then water started to come in, walls got damp ,no filler foam around windows. daughters window had two screws holding it in the window when she opened it one day swung out. the whole casement. Pieces outside started to fall off. Very cold and when the wind got up the whole house played a tune like an orchestra.0 -

Correct should have been but the company was such a pane getting a response the solicitor advised to take it further. Most cost arose due to them having to repeat letters, calls and re-organising court hearings due to late paper work. All put on my bill0 -
This really is a bit of a sorry situation and pursuing it to the extent you have with no guarantee of payout may not have been wise. Especially as you say that the payout, should you get it, wont even cover your debt. Ultimately it doesn’t matter how it all came about with the window company, what matters now is enforcing the debt. If there is a court order for them to pay then you need to instruct enforcement agents to collect. There is no guarantee you’ll get anything though. If you declare bankruptcy then the Official Receiver will attempt to recover the debt but you won’t personally benefit from any cash they get, plus your credit rating will be trashed for 5 years. Equally the company may go into liquidation rather than pay out.
So to decide what to do next my original question stands, what have you done so far to enforce the debt?0 -

Your comment made me laugh the fact i stated that does have a bearing i work hard for what ever money i have earned being nurse or not,£850 of debt to these ******* a month is a struggle when you also have bills to pay. this debt is on cards and loans. i can't at present name them as i'm still attached due to the outstanding money owed. I will instruct bailiffs believe me but this is also a cost and money i can't afford to add to this debt.0
