Motor Insurance- Urgent Asistance Rewuested !!!

My daughter purchased a car back in June 20. I and my daughter insured our vehicles with Admiral on a multi car policy. My renewal on my vehicle is due on 12 Aug 20. When we went to insure my daughters car, admiral recommended the multi car policy. They also said to insure until 12 August 20 to bring my daughter’s insurance in line with mine.
When my daughter got the quote, it was less with me included as named driver ( 35 years clean full licence).
So the initial quote for the year on my daughter’s car was £1111 with me on as named driver.
On renewal which is due in 6 days they have quoted us £1070 with just my daughter on the insurance and £1661 with me as named driver ( 35 years full clean licence). 😡
My daughter spoke to them on 20 July 20 and they bought her insurance down to £1524.72 with me on it as named driver after applying all discounts and £500 total excess  😩
The previous excess was also £500 for both of us.
For my vehicle the renewal quote was £385 and they bought it down to £285.33.
I spoke to admiral yesterday and they wouldn’t budge one millimetre on the renewal price. 😩
We have searched all the price comparison sites and all quotes we get are higher. 😩
I spent a good hour on the phone to admiral and told them how can you reduce the insurance quote with me added on 19 June 20, and now increase by £454 by adding me to the policy now. 😱
My situation is the same, I still have a 35 year clean full UK driving licence and am a very careful driver.
I would expect an increase if I was a brand new driver.
Admiral’s response was that insurance quotes are done on statistics and not on how experienced the driver, nor how long his NCD is.😱
Back in June when we took out the insurance admiral didn’t advise that there would be a huge increase in premium on renewal with a named driver regardless of age or experience. 😩
In the end we had no choice to renew for the coming year starting on 12 Aug 20, but I believe I do have the right to cancel before the insurance starts if Martin, his team or you kind folks on the forum can assist urgently.
These insurance companies are ripping the public off. 😩
I mean this is extortionate and I need urgent help to find cheaper fully comprehensive insurance ASAP.
Kind regards

Why not leave yyour daughter's insurance as is and carry on with your own separate policy?

Not sure I would be keen on multi-car policies with children, their lives and needs can change so quickly.

Some of the others on here might know the answer to this question.  Are the insurers pushing multi-car policies because they are difficult/painful to escape?  (I imagine couples would be pretty happy with them)

A policy and its premium are only good for the stated duration of the policy. After that a renewal will be priced based on market conditions and claims experience on that day and totally independently to last years price.

You say its still the cheapest way to insurer then you don't have any leverage.

Does the policy say you can cancel? I may be wrong on this but many things tend to have a 14 day cancellation period. But then if it is the cheapest way to do it.....

Sadly insurance isn't based just on the individual being insured. All of those people out there who make a mistake, or just drive badly and end up claiming effect the rest of us.  So do local statistics such as recent vehicle crime in your area and also the type of car being driven.

Sometimes I've seen offers from companies giving better rates to those who already have a product with them such as a mortgage or home insurance. Might be worth looking into if you haven't already.

    Good luck.

    Umpteen comparison engines out there.

The biggest benefit of "multi-car policies" is that they stop you looking around to see if there's better value elsewhere.
  • We have searched all the main comparison sites MSE suggested and also some of those companies not on them.
Can you suggest any other site ?

Also, Admiral can't be doing a very good job of ripping you off if they're cheaper than any other insurer on the market...

In general the more things you bundle together (multi-car, breakdown cover etc) the more hassle it is to switch them all at once, so the more you can rely on inertia rather than consistently cheap pricing to keep the consumer loyal. It also works for media companies which bundle phone, broadband, TV, mobile etc into a single packages.

    ...and haven't beaten that price?

Suggests it's not that bad a rip-off, then.

(Although I still wouldn't touch Admiral, the Ryanair of insurers, with somebody else's)

OP as the only reason you were added to the insurance initially was for the lower premium can't you now be taken off and accept the cheaper price for this coming year?

If having you on the policy is now putting the price up then maybe weigh up whether you need to be named on her car. How often do you drive her vehicle? If it isn’t that often then just take yourself off, if you have Driving Other Cars cover on your own vehicle (most fully comp policies do) then you would still be able to drive her can under your own policy third party only, in case of emergency for example.

Like others have said, if admiral are coming up the cheapest even at this higher premium it seems like prices in general have gone up across the board, and they have already taken some money off for you by the sounds of it.
Unfortunately there isn’t a secret cheap insurance out there that anyone can recommend for you
