Notice of correction instead of removing financial association

I recently contacted Equifax to remove my ex as a financial association as the account we once shared had been settled for many years and we have no current financial links. I've just received an email from them saying that I'll receive a notice of correction on my file. Is this normal, and if not, should I reiterate to them that there aren't errors on my actual file, just that I want the financial link removed?

You do not want a notice of correction and you are right to ask the link to be removed, assuming all joint accounts / bills have had one of you removed.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.1

Equifax do it without asking.
Ask them to remove it.1 -
Thank you @MovingForwards and @D3xt3r5L4b, I've updated my case file to state that I want the notice removed.1

Same thing happened to me for a recent dispute to my Equifax file - very annoying that they left a note saying things were under dispute, when they had actually already removed the offending entry and nothing was under dispute anymore! Unfortunately you need to ask them to remove it, and all you can then do is wait for them to do so

How annoying! I'd have left things alone as thankfully my ex isn't financially irresponsible, but I thought it might be prudent to get unlinked in case of a midlife crisis changing thisPRAISETHESUN said:Same thing happened to me for a recent dispute to my Equifax file - very annoying that they left a note saying things were under dispute, when they had actually already removed the offending entry and nothing was under dispute anymore! I've had the same thing too with Equifax. They took 6 weeks to remove the financial association but the NOC still exists. I raised a case and told it would take 5 working days to remove the NOC... 3 weeks later and it's still there and no movement on when it will happen.1

Goodness! I've not noticed this with the other two agencies, why would Equifax think this is a good idea?pedgepuk said:I've had the same thing too with Equifax. Equifax added notice of correction to mine whilst I was waiting for a late payment to be removed. The late payment has gone and correction is still there. Their response was because it is less than 200 words it won't have an impact and that they're extremely busy and il have to wait basically!1

This doesn't seem like an efficient way for them do things as it'll cause more work for them to do later as people ask for them to be removed?0
