Morning all, I feel cheated today as we're having more rain which was not in the forecast. It's only that drizzly stuff but you soon get wet all the same.I was going to Dad's this morning but just as I was putting my shoes on we had notification that my flour should be here today, so cue Mr Fix It putting his meals on wheels hat on. Hopefully that lot should last Dad at least a week or 2 unless he gets the munchies again, then perhaps it'll all only make it to 4pmI have put the DW on again, it's certainly been worth it's money with all the cooking I did yesterday, it's been filled twice with pots and pans. (At one point I was using the microwave, the slow cooker, the oven and the cooker top. Multi-tasking at it's finest
) I have also cleaned down the kitchen, but I see that I have to clean the cooker top again as I seem to have missed some marks on it, I should really wear my glasses all the time.
Tea tonight ? I don't know yet but there's plenty to choose from. Mr Fix It is annoyed with himself as he's put weight it on and I've lost weight, so he can decide. It's a bit awkward for him as he's a diabetic and he can't go cold turkey with his food, so he's going to drop his bread intake too, in the hope that it will help.Anyway the rest of the day will just be wandering about aimlessly, looking for things not to do. Perhaps I should keep my eyes closed ?Take care all, keep well and stay safe.nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently11 -
Morning! drizzy rain here too off and on.I did get up early, honest guv, just been to the hospital and back for a blood test. They've changed my infusion to back up the main hospital and it's on Sunday. I spent the time before that looking into pergola fixings to the ground, because I dont want to put the posts in concrete, I want to be able to move it again when the house is done or at least re-use the wood, so I've decided to corner bracket them into the concrete bit just outside the back door. Should keep them steady and will be easily removed. I'll do my italian lesson in a bit and after that probably mark out where it's to be dug up.I've still got my bucket of apples to sort out, I want to make bramble jelly, but that probably won't happen till next week now, the blackberrries need time to ripen at the front
Isn't it always the way that the biggest juciest ones are right at the back and I don't have a blackberry whacking stick.
I had such big plans for the garden this week and they all went awry. I'm not booking myself into doing anything outside of the house next week so I can play...Tonight will be fajitas for OH [ some left over] and I'll have a mountain of runner beans with something. I feel the urge for unadulterated veg. I suppose I could dig up a few potatoes to go with that and put some mint or parsley on them. I picked some tomatoes and a couple of cucumbers yesterday so that'll be salad for lunch. And the kohlrabi are fattening up so they're next on my edible hit listRight, up and at them again. Nanny, well done on your marathon cook-a-thon! Nelski, how did yesterday go? Milicent, I did laugh at your OH...Have a nice time Gintot. Hey all reading along, hpe you're doing well. Tin can alley Thursday!Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi9 -
Goodness, I'm late today. Trying to get everything necessary done before the heatwave strikes.
Like you nmlc I like to get done early, before the heat racks itself up.
ILC, lucky you to have a CS that is accepting stuff. I'm thinking of opening my own on the front lawn.
TA, I feel your pain!
Nelski, it's amazing how suddenly cash is in short supply. Everyone waving a card over the machine I suppose.
Camelot, don't worry, the little one won't forget you. They never do.
AOD, Wouldnt that be just perfect - rain at night, Sun in the day. Some hope!
RedRuby, I miss my former home where I had woods 100 yards to the right of me and the beach 100 yards to the left. Talk about spoilt.
millicent, the bin lorry story resonated with me. Our bins are supposed to be out after 9pm and before 6am. Our road's bins are always collected at about 2.30 in the afternoon. So a lot of folk don't bother putting theirs out till the morning. A couple of weeks ago the bin lorry arrived at 6.30am. There was wailing and gnashing of teeth!
NannyW, for goodness sake don't go looking for things to do. Are you mad? Sit down and enjoy the rest.
taff, I am distraught that I don't know where there are blackberries round here. I've not found a really good place for them on the Island and I love HM bramble jelly.
Right. That has taken me so long to type on the tablet that there is no time for more.

Hi everyone
Just been having a catch-up whilst eating a very nice fishfinger sandwich. I had a lovely few days away with DD and little one near Kilmarnock. It rained all day Tuesday and most of Wednesday but we managed to keep ourselves occupied with a big shopping centre and an all you can eat buffet! We took full advantage of the eat out for half price scheme and had some lovely meals. It was good just to have a change of place. Lovely and sunny here today. I have washing drying and then my bedding to go out. Other than that I plan to enjoy the sunshine reading and perhaps pull some weeds out.
Hope everyone has a good day8 -
