PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING
Hello Forumites! However well-intentioned, for the safety of other users we ask that you refrain from seeking or offering medical advice. This includes recommendations for medicines, procedures or over-the-counter remedies. Posts or threads found to be in breach of this rule will be removed.O/S Daily Thursday 6 August 2020

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH up and gone to work stupid stupid early, DS1 getting ready for work, I'm enjoying first cuppa whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Cloudy start - and forecast is for cloudy day but hot - we'll see.
Dinner last night was gammon, egg, chips/jacket potato, coleslaw - some LO's so tonight I'm going to make a creamy tomato pasta bake and serve with the cold gammon and cook some chicken to also serve with it, I'll do a side of peas and mushrrooms also.
Yesterday work was steady, but now on days' off, working Saturday then back on Monday.
Today I have a "to do" list that I want to achieve - so I'll shortly go and strip our bed and once I've showered get that in the wash, I'll try to get the housework a go over early so it's done before it gets too hot. I need to visit town too and I have some admin to do, so a few things to be going on with. I'll just potter along at my own pace.
Keep safe and well x

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Stamping my feet in frustration here as just lost a long post that wasn't remotely interesting anyway so won't bother repeating it all.
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all who need them. Take care and stay safe. I may return later x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"15 -
Good morning folks.Yesterday turned into a spreadsheet nightmare and I ended up fairly frazzled. After I had done the easy bit I was sent a bundle of seven other documents to work through. I'm not quite sure why they were sent to me for sorting, I'm not an accountant, but I spent a long time with them. And then wrote a new policy document to try to avoid the situation again. Trouble is that systems and processes only work if they are followed! The huge mudslide on the Rest and Be Thankful is devastating for the region. The road diversion is approximately 58 miles though the ferry company has brought in a shuttle service to help. There's been enormous sums spent on the road and yet heavy rain brings more problems. This morning the cleaner is coming so I'll go out when she's here. I've got a order to collect from M&S and one to go back. The lovely Maxim coffee cups I bought last month are now unavailable, just when I wanted another couple. 😞 I'll also pick up a couple of the wee Italian tarts from the cafe, that'll please DM. The physio phoned yesterday to check on progress as he's leaving the job tomorrow, at least I have phone number for the service to speak to someone else if needed. No more rambling. The sun is up and so should I be. Hugs to those who can use them. Happy Thursday to all. 💙14

Gers they are available at my M+S if you want me to get you some and send up x
Had another epic duvet fight last night and somehow managed to remove the cover completely which means putting it all back together todaywhat I'd give for a restful night
Terrorist coming today for more band exercises he wants his £2 too so had to scrabble round to find it as money seems a rare commodity now ...my gardener insists on cash which is a pain as over the months he's cleared out my reserves. Need to get a bag of coin from the bank at some point.
Burger night tonight so nice and easy
Nothing much else happening so have a good day lovelies

Morning All
The sun is shining!! We had more rain yesterday afternoon but not as bad as Tuesday's watering. I had washing out for a whole hour then gave in and put it in the drier. Hopefully today's washing will be dried outside, it's in at the moment.
Lovely lunch yesterday with friends, we were due to fly to Croatia for a little holiday on Monday but this had been cancelled so we had a catch up here. I made a quiche (never made one before) and it turned out really well, will definitely make another sometime as it was relatively easy. We had a few refreshments and generally put the world to rights.
I may go and visit DD today, would be nice to sit in the garden and watch the wee one play, don't want her to forget who I am again.
Have a happy Thursday, take care. XX14 -
Good morning and thank you for starting the thread nmlc.
I tried to post yesterday but had difficulty with the site, it kept closing itself, but I hadn't much to say so you were all spared.
This morning the gas safe chap is coming to do the safety check, I think the letting agent had forgotten and it is 3 months overdue. Not that we have any problems but it is a requirement. Tomorrow an electrician to look at the bathroom light fitting, the light kept switching itself off and now is not working. I do find it helpful to have a light in the bathroom especially at night. The whole thing appears to have seized and we can't get the shade off. We are continuing to rent for now, the housing market went totally dead for a few months but is now picking up, but prices are quite inflated at present. We will wait and see.
Later on I may go foraging for bark again, I'm using this, broken up, on one of the borders and am going to use the compost I've made on the other border and on some shrubs which are in need of a nutrient boost. It is odd, the compost didn't even get hot but has reached the stage of being good for mulching very quickly. have still had no rain, yesterday I thought we might but we ended up with about 6 raindrops. I'm sorry that those in Scotland are experiencing the other extreme, what I should like is a nice steady rain overnight and then sunshine during the day but I can't do much about that.
I must go and get showered and will check back later, hope everyone has a good day.

Bright and sunny here and set in for a good weekend, Saturday is meant to be a scorcher hitting 32 deg so a bbq will be the order of the day !!
I am off shopping this morning so need to do a list in a while will try and get in and out quickly as it gets busy later.
Creamy garlic chicken for dinner tonight from the PON book we are trying to eat a bit more healthily as the weight is creeping back on again.
Will get the dogs out for a walk later we tend to go to the woods when its hot as its a bit cooler there.
Right better get moving
Have good days all xx13 -

A rude awakening this morning as the bin lorry woke us and DH realised that he forgotten to put the bins out last night, cue him running down the road in dressing gown and bare feet😬, got back into bed and I said you obviously put the food waste out as well..... errr no - he was up and down like a yo-yo 😂.
DS2 is having a belated socially distanced birthday bbq this weekend. Even though he no longer lives at home he doesn’t have a garden so is using ours! We will spend the day setting things up for him with a couple of gazebo’s and digging out some garden chairs and of course stocking up the garden bar😬, l will also prepare a couple of salads as well though these will only be a “token gesture” for the girlfriends that are coming as all the men are rugby playing types and will make a bee line for the meat 😭
Apart from that it will be a day of changing beds and washing, DH will mow the lawn as well.
Hunters chicken for dinner tonight, have it prepared already so will peel some potatoes and do mash and green beans with it.
Have a lovely day all

Morning all. Not posted recently as not much going on and have felt a bit blah. Still OH has gone into town to get some slip on shoes. I am not going as there is only multi storey car patks and I am not getting in a lift right now ! We went to the Mall at Cribbs Causeway last week but there was nothing suitable.
We have also booked a short break at the Mill House in Dunster which looks lovely. It is our wedding anniversary this month so we thought we would treat ourselves. I just have to learn to brave public toilets now lol
Well take care all and have a good day.
