Relative claimed UC on 19th June after being made redundant, he still hasn't had any money. Understand the 5 week waiting period, does pay in lieu of notice/ holiday pay move the start date ?? Statement in UC account quotes some random pay amount, so could be an error.....

If he received any pay after making the claim, that will have been taken into account and 63% of what he was paid deducted from his maximum UC award. Presumably he's had his statement and it's come out as £0? If his earnings were above £650.61 (£409.89 ÷ 0.63) that would be correct. It doesn't change any dates because the assessment period is fixed from the date he claimed, just means he will have to wait until the end of his next assessment period to have any UC payable.Sparkymark70 said:Just to add he is single & over 25 with no housing costs or dependants.
[Though if the money was in his bank account before he made his UC claim he could challenge the decision - they go by the date the employer reports it to HMRC as having been paid, but they have discretion to override that if it's proven that the money was in his bank before the date he opened his claim.]1
